Marvel's Echo Teases Daredevil Fight Scene: What Fans Can Expect

The Echo TV show gave Marvel fans a special treat as a fight scene featuring Charlie Cox's Daredevil was recently teased from the Disney Plus series. Here's a look at what fans can expect from this exciting crossover event.

Introducing Echo: Marvel's Underdog Hero

The Echo TV series may have given Marvel fans their first taste of what to expect from the upcoming Disney Plus show. This includes Charlie Cox's Daredevil, who appears in a newly revealed fight scene. Audiences were understandably confused when Marvel Studios announced an Echo spinoff series even before the character debuted in Hawkeye. But once the deaf titular hero known as Maya Lopez showed up, portrayed expertly by deaf actress Alaqua Cox, the confusion went away almost immediately.

Fans quickly appreciated Echo as Marvel's new underdog hero despite her initial appearance as an antagonist. Much of that admiration likely came from Alaqua Cox's incredible physical prowess, as shown through her many fight scenes. So it should be no surprise that her spinoff would include plenty more of that and even a returning fan favorite.

The Exciting Teaser of Echo and Daredevil's Clash

Fans on the Marvel Studios Spoilers subreddit uncovered a Twitter video showing an impressive fight scene between Alaqua Cox's Maya/Echo and Daredevil. It was initially thought to be a leak, but a stickied comment on the post clarified that it came from a preview shown on Sky Sports. While it certainly makes sense that the two heroes would clash at some point, given Echo's ties (current or former) to Daredevil's nemesis Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, the real draw here is the action itself.

The duel appears to be in a storage room, as so many good fights are, with Echo and Daredevil going at it roughly as Daredevil battles in a way that comic fans may appreciate. Among the many creative changes made to Daredevil since his Netflix debut, one part that rubbed some fans the wrong way was his general aversion to using his trademark batons during fights, as he usually did in the comics. Luckily, ever since he brought them back for his appearance in the excellent She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, it looks like they're sticking around as part of his standard arsenal.

As for Maya, she seems to still favor her always deadly unarmed style, though with no particular aversion to using whatever is around to her advantage. One of the changes to Echo in her current appearances is that she no longer can copy any fighting style she sees, as was her power in the comics. That's made pretty clear when, while she's absolutely a match for Daredevil, she's still caught off-guard by many of his attacks.

A Look at the Anticipated Release of Echo

Daredevil and Hawkeye created awesome action scenes using the one-take filming method, and it always gets the blood pumping. So, seeing it again in this preview for Echo is just one more reason to get excited. Plus, it will offer some much-needed representation for fans who are deaf and/or of Native American heritage. It's never a bad thing when more people get to see heroes like themselves.

Echo is set to release, in its entirety, on January 9th, 2024, on Disney Plus.
