Marvel Comics boasts numerous characters, yet few possess the same level of complexity as Wade Wilson, aka Deadpool. Thanks to Ryan Reynolds' portrayal, Deadpool has emerged as an immensely popular and cherished superhero worldwide. However, his history within Marvel Comics spans far and wide, rendering his adventures within the pages of the comics essential for any fans of the Deadpool films.
While some characters have appeared alongside the Merc with the Mouth on the silver screen, with others set to join in Deadpool 3 (including Hugh Jackman's Wolverine), numerous others have had their own share of captivating encounters with Deadpool solely within the realm of Marvel Comics. Amongst the impressive roster of characters associated with Deadpool, there are certain individuals who complement the deranged mercenary exceptionally well.
9 Colossus
The transition from hit superhero movies to comic books often showcases the seamless and noteworthy relationship between a duo of superheroes. While Colossus was already acquainted with Deadpool in Marvel Comics, their bond grew significantly closer after the release of the first Deadpool film in 2016 and has remained strong since.
In the comics, Colossus has rarely had his own fully-fledged stories, often being a part of various X-Men teams rather than embarking on solo adventures. However, his connection with Deadpool has played a pivotal role in increasing his popularity in the last decade. The chemistry between these two characters is exceptional, as Colossus represents the archetype of a true white knight, which hilariously contrasts with Deadpool's renegade style.
8 Wolverine
Wolverine and Deadpool have a well-documented comic book history, and fans are eagerly anticipating their upcoming appearance together in Deadpool 3. They have crossed paths multiple times, often having a complicated friendship. Initially brought together by their involvement in the Weapon X Program, they later became teammates when Wolverine extended an invitation for Deadpool to join the X-Force.
The most exhilarating aspect of their relationship is their intense fights, as both possess powerful healing abilities. Although Deadpool is known for being completely immortal, Wolverine usually emerges as the victor in their clashes. However, their battles often result in stalemates, creating numerous iconic moments. This enduring connection between the two has even led to the creation of one of the longest-running team-up comics in Marvel history, featuring Wolverine and Deadpool.
7 Domino
Domino, played by Zazie Beetz, is another character that has appeared alongside Deadpool in the film Deadpool 2. She was a member of the X-Force team that Deadpool recruited. Although she didn't have much screen time, there is a possibility of her returning in the sequel. In the Marvel Comics, Domino and Deadpool have had a love/hate relationship since the early '90s, and fans can enjoy their dynamic in the comics. Wade Wilson has shown loyalty to Domino over the years, whether it's rescuing her from kidnappers or assisting her in various situations. Despite their differences, Domino's luck-based powers complement Deadpool's chaotic nature, resulting in an intriguing combination. Interestingly, both characters were first introduced in the same issue of New Mutants, although Domino was initially disguised as Copycat. Nevertheless, their uneasy friendship has brought much enjoyment to readers over the years.
6 Rogue
Deadpool's love interest in Marvel Comics takes an unexpected turn as he becomes entangled with Rogue. Although their romance has yet to hit the big screen, Rogue has made recent appearances alongside Deadpool in video games. Surprisingly, this unlikely couple gained popularity during their time on the Avengers Unity team in 2012. Rogue, after mercilessly defeating Deadpool, stumbles upon his secret feelings for her and shocks everyone by sharing a passionate kiss with the unpredictable mercenary.
Despite their relationship being nothing more than a fling, it holds significant meaning for both characters, especially Deadpool. Rogue's unconditional acceptance of him, regardless of his skin-changing powers upon touch, is a rare instance that sheds light on the potential for transformation if others were to perceive Deadpool in a similar light.
5 Hydra Bob
Deadpool, a crazed mercenary who often prefers to work alone, finds himself occasionally lonely despite his team-ups with other superheroes. However, his comedic sidekick situation would counter this notion. Deadpool hilariously gains a sidekick in Bob, an ex-agent of Hydra whom Deadpool convinced to abandon the organization in favor of assisting him.
Initially coerced into helping Deadpool through torture, Bob quickly becomes more than just a "pet" to Deadpool. He proves to be an invaluable ally and a worthy companion or sidekick. Bob's eccentric and endearing nature shines through as he unintentionally defeats dinosaurs and aids Deadpool in accomplishing various tasks in his own clumsy and unconventional manner. This solidifies Bob's status as a beloved and peculiar character within Marvel Comics.
4 Spider-Man
Spider-Man and Deadpool, two iconic Marvel Comics characters, have a rich and extensive history together. They have shared adventures and interactions with almost every character in the Marvel universe. In addition, they have even had their own comic book series where they teamed up. Although they have not yet appeared together on the big screen, their chemistry as a masked duo in the comics is enduring and always entertaining.
Their fifty-issue comic book series, which started in 2016, was incredibly unique. Deadpool enjoyed working alongside Spider-Man, but Peter Parker was cautious and somewhat repulsed by Deadpool. However, Wade Wilson made efforts to improve himself and be a better friend to Spider-Man by reducing his killing and striving for higher moral standards. However, it was secretly revealed that Deadpool was initially hired to assassinate Peter Parker, adding tension to their relationship. Despite their differences, Spider-Man and Deadpool have become one of the most notable and memorable pairings in Marvel Comics in recent years.
3 Blind Al
Blind Al, depicted in the Deadpool film, has always been one of Deadpool's closest companions. Their connection was formed when, in true Deadpool fashion, he was tasked with eliminating her but chose not to carry out the job. Years later, they became roommates, and since then, Al has taken on various roles in Deadpool's life, such as a caretaker, parental figure, and occasional antagonist in their local area.
Despite being an elderly blind woman, Al possesses a mysterious and undisclosed background, possibly linked to her involvement in the British Secret Service. She shares Deadpool's witty and humorous demeanor, blending seamlessly with his distinctive style, despite initially appearing to be quite distinct from him.
2 Cable
Cable, the ultimate superhero companion of Deadpool, has made numerous appearances alongside Wade Wilson in various media formats. They have formed a dynamic duo in team-up comics, superhero team-ups, and most recently, in the hit movie Deadpool 2, where Cable was portrayed by Josh Brolin.
Hailing from the future, Cable is a mutant with the ability to travel through time. In 2004, they joined forces in a comic book series, rescuing each other after their individual series were unexpectedly cancelled. Since then, their partnership has become inseparable, with Cable and Deadpool almost becoming synonymous with one another.
1 Weasel
Weasel has always been a reliable supporting character in Deadpool's comic book journey, with his role portrayed by TJ Miller in the Deadpool movies. Weasel often bears the brunt of Deadpool's mistreatment but is still seen as various things by the mercenary, including occasionally his closest ally.
Throughout the years, Weasel has assisted Deadpool in numerous ways, primarily as a supplier of weapons and a source for job opportunities. Much of the trouble Deadpool finds himself in is a direct result of Weasel's involvement. Interestingly enough, Weasel's original backstory reveals that he was actually a fellow classmate of Peter Parker in high school.
