Marvel's Spider-Man 2 offers an extensive range of costumes, yet fans are expressing disappointment over the absence of iconic ones, despite Insomniac introducing fresh and original designs. The introduction of new costumes has sparked lively conversations on Reddit, prompting comic enthusiasts to share their perspectives on the game's costume selection.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 boasts an impressive array of costumes, surpassing all previous versions. With a whopping 74 costumes, exclusively accessible through pre-ordering the digital deluxe edition, enthusiasts will delight in the diverse selection, including numerous options featuring distinct color schemes. Yet, devoted comic book aficionados remain unsatisfied, lamenting the absence of several beloved characters and their iconic appearances. Their disappointment knows no bounds.

Fans call out Spider-Man 2 for ignoring characters

In a Reddit post, fans convened to discuss the forthcoming collaboration suits for Spider-Man 2. The game will feature four suits that have been co-designed by Rina Sawayama, Lando Norris, Kid Super, and Vini Jr., although the release date is yet to be announced.

Fans were disappointed with the suits. Several expressed their frustration on Reddit, noting the absence of suits featured in the comics and the previous Spider-Man game.

"Despite the variety of suits, it's disappointing that the Ben Reilly Spider-Man outfit is missing," one user pondered.

One user expressed their desire for a Ben Reilly Beyond suit, referring to the Spider-clone's appearance in the 2022 Spider-Man Beyond storyline. They noted that while Ben Reilly's original Scarlet Spider costume and its modern version are represented, the costumes he wore when he was actually Spider-Man are noticeably absent. Another user commented that they have nothing against the artists, who they believe are fans and excited to design a Spider-Man costume, but they would prefer to have some iconic comic outfits that were left out. They find it perplexing that Ben's Sensational suit is still missing.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is missing classic comic book costumes

The suits in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 consist of both returning designs from the previous game, like the Iron Spider from Avengers: Infinity War, and iconic costumes such as Miles' Bodega Cat outfit. Additionally, there are several new suits available, including ones inspired by Kraven and the highly demanded Superior Spider-Man costume.

But the sequel is missing many iconic Spidey costumes from the first game, including the original Spider-Armor, Spider-Man 2099’s white costume, and the animated classic Spider-Man suit.

However, InsomniacSpider-Man 2099’s white costume, which was present in Marvel’s Spider-Man, is nowhere to be found in the sequel.

"This is the sole suit I require. I wouldn't have objected if they had retained all the suits from the previous game and included others, such as the black suits and those from the movies that weren't present in the first game," stated a commenter, highlighting the absence of various costumes.

Although there is a possibility that these suits might be introduced later as downloadable content (DLC), similar to how Marvel's Spider-Man introduced the Scarlet Spider II and Peter B. Parker costumes, no further information regarding additional DLC has been officially confirmed yet.

Although there is a possibility of DLC being in the works, fans have a track record of advocating for the DLC they desire. Notably, a high-profile campaign resulted in the inclusion of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man suits in the original game.
