Marvel Expands Wakanda's Rich Universe with Black Panther Disney Plus Series

Marvel sets its sights on Wakanda with an exciting new Black Panther animated series, coming exclusively to Disney+ in 2024 Get ready for thrilling adventures and immerse yourself in the vibrant world of the Black Panther

The popular Black Panther will return in a new animated series called Eyes of Wakanda, set to be released on Disney+ in 2024. The announcement was made during the premiere event for What If...? Season 2, with Marvel Studios' Brad Winderbaum unveiling the news alongside previews of other upcoming Marvel Animation Studios projects including X-Men '97 and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.

The show Eyes of Wakanda will center on warriors from the mystical and super-scientific African nation who are on a mission to retrieve dangerous vibranium artifacts from around the world. The Black Panther serves as the leader of the Panther Tribe and the protector of the Wakandan people.

Chadwick Boseman portrayed the iconic Black Panther, T'Challa, in various MCU projects until his unexpected passing in 2020. Boseman's portrayal even earned him an Emmy nomination for his role in the What If...? episode where T'Challa took on the persona of Star-Lord.

This marks the second Black Panther animated series since the BET series, which was created by Reginald Hudlin, a previous writer for the Black Panther comic book, more than ten years ago. There have been no announcements regarding the cast or characters.

Editor's P/S

As a huge fan of the Black Panther franchise, I am thrilled about the upcoming animated series, "Eyes of Wakanda." The prospect of delving deeper into the rich universe of Wakanda and exploring its mystical and super-scientific aspects is incredibly exciting. The idea of warriors embarking on a mission to retrieve dangerous vibranium artifacts from around the world adds an element of adventure and intrigue that is sure to captivate audiences. I can't wait to see how the series expands upon the already captivating world of Wakanda and introduces us to new characters and storylines.

The absence of Chadwick Boseman, who brought the iconic Black Panther to life, is undoubtedly a significant loss. His portrayal of T'Challa was truly remarkable, and his Emmy nomination for his role in the "What If...?" episode is a testament to his talent. While it will be challenging to fill the void left by Boseman, I trust that Marvel Studios will handle this delicate situation with sensitivity and respect. I am confident that the animated series will pay homage to Boseman's legacy while also forging its own path and creating new memorable moments for fans to cherish.
