Marvel enthusiasts perplexed by highly suggestive Madame Web teaser

New Madame Web trailer leaves Marvel fans perplexed with its enigmatic delivery, leaving them unsure how to respond

The new promotional video for the upcoming superhero movie Madame Web has left viewers puzzled due to its "suggestive" content. The film, part of Sony's Marvel movie series featuring Spider-Man, has been surrounded by confusion and fan speculation, with some comparing it to a fan film despite its official status.

Upon release of the initial trailer in November 2023, numerous viewers anticipated a Morbius-style debacle, criticizing the disjointed editing and peculiar dialogue. Compounding the issue is the fact that Madame Web is not a widely recognized character in the Spider-Man universe. In the comic books, she possesses clairvoyant abilities and aids Spider-Man on numerous occasions by peering into the future.

The costuming for the characters was also slammed on social media, but now the film is going viral for an entirely different reason.

Fans don’t know how to react to new Madame Web promo

Dakota Johnson, the actress who plays Madame Web, appeared in a new promotional video that gained popularity on Twitter. In the video, she predicted that in the future, everyone would watch the film twice. What really captured people's attention, though, was how she delivered the script in a "seductive" and "breathy" manner, with some users comparing it to an ASMR video.

Every movie should have enticing promotions like this. I'm ready to see Paw Patrol 2 for you, ma'am.

Another comment stated, "Is she attempting to entice me into watching her movie? Well, it worked, not gonna lie. I'll be there on 16th Feb." Another user remarked, "Madame Web has something that Morbius doesn't (strangely titillating advertising)."

Madame Web arrives in cinemas on February 16th 2024.

Editor's P/S

As a Gen Z netizen, I find the new Madame Web trailer to be intriguing and confusing at the same time. The "suggestive" content in the trailer has definitely caught my attention, but I'm not sure if it's a good or bad thing. On the one hand, it's refreshing to see a superhero movie that's not afraid to be a little bit sexy. On the other hand, I'm worried that it might be a sign that the movie is going to be more style than substance.

I'm also a bit concerned about the fact that Madame Web is not a very well-known character in the Spider-Man universe. I'm not sure if general audiences will be interested in a movie about a character they've never heard of before. However, I'm willing to give the movie a chance. I'm hoping that it will be a fun and entertaining superhero movie that will surprise me in a good way.
