Marvel Cuts Ties with Jonathan Majors Following Conviction for Assault and Harassment

Marvel cuts ties with Jonathan Majors following assault and harassment conviction, potentially facing up to a year in prison

Actor Jonathan Majors has been found guilty of assault and harassment during a domestic dispute with former girlfriend Grace Jabbari by a New York jury. He was convicted of one count of reckless assault in the third degree and a non-criminal charge of harassment as a violation. As a result, Marvel Studios has removed Majors from his role as Kang. He was acquitted on another assault charge and one count of aggravated harassment. His sentencing is set for February 6, 2024, and the charges stem from his March arrest, leading to his removal from productions, ads, and his agency.

After four and a half hours of deliberation, the jury reached a verdict on Thursday following the closing arguments. According to CNN, prosecutors claimed that Majors used physical violence against Jabbari during the March altercation, while Majors' attorney defended his innocence and suggested that Jabbari was the one who initiated the altercation.

Majors was present in the New York City courtroom for the reading of the guilty verdict, despite not testifying during the trial.

In a statement, Jabbari's attorneys expressed their satisfaction with the verdict, stating, "We are pleased to see justice served with today’s guilty verdict. Ms. Jabbari bravely testified truthfully, despite the obvious pain of reliving these traumatic events on the witness stand. We are appreciative of the jury, the Judge, and the Manhattan District Attorney's Office for their dedication and support."

Majors was originally slated to be the next major villain for Marvel Studios in the upcoming phase of movies, but reports suggest that an alternate plan has been in the works since his arrest. Additionally, Disney has removed his film Magazine Dreams from its holiday season release schedule.

As a passionate fan of Marvel Cinematic Universe, I am deeply disappointed and saddened by the news of Jonathan Majors' conviction for assault and harassment. It is disheartening to learn that an actor who was poised to play a significant role in the upcoming phase of Marvel movies has been involved in such disturbing behavior. Domestic violence and harassment are serious issues that should not be tolerated, and it is crucial that Marvel Studios takes a strong stance against such actions. I hope that Majors will face appropriate consequences for his actions and that Marvel will find a suitable replacement for the role of Kang.

Furthermore, I am concerned about the potential impact of Majors' conviction on the upcoming Marvel movies. Kang was set to be a major villain, and his removal from the role may require significant changes to the storyline and character development. I trust that Marvel Studios will handle this situation professionally and ensure that the quality of their movies is not compromised. As a fan, I will continue to support Marvel and hope that they will make the right decisions to address this unfortunate situation.
