Melissa Joan Hart doesn't have to explain her on-screen romances to her husband, Mark Wilkerson. "He ignores all that," Hart, 47, said exclusively to We while promoting the 2023 World Vision Gift Catalog. "Luckily, he doesn't pay attention to that stuff. He rarely looks at my social media or anything like that."
Hart revealed that her husband only watches her movies when she makes him, often for live-tweeting or similar events, but they rarely sit down to watch her work together. Despite this, the actress has built an impressive body of work, including leading roles in hit series like Clarissa Explains It All and Sabrina the Teenage Witch, as well as a reputation as the "Queen" of Christmas for her popular holiday films, which she hopes her family will one day watch with her.
Hart expressed her desire for her family to watch "Holiday in Handcuffs," her favorite Christmas movie that she has starred in. Despite her urging, her husband, Wilkerson, is hesitant to watch her films and hear her candid stories about her past romantic relationships. Earlier this year, Hart revealed that she had dated Chris William Martin and had a "little thing" with Ryan Reynolds.

A key to their enduring marriage may be the couple's ability to maintain a balance between their careers and romance. After getting married in 2003, they recently marked their 20-year anniversary. Hart also shared that presenting a united front for their children – Mason, 17, Brayden, 15, and Tucker, 11 – has strengthened their relationship. Although the couple used to enjoy lighthearted banter in the early days of their romance, they have found that their teenage children now use the same tone to manipulate them, which is no longer as endearing.
She explained that they are being cautious about their communication with each other and making an effort to support each other more as a team. They are also learning to make decisions as a united front when it comes to their teenagers, instead of letting the kids play their parents against each other. Hart admitted that facing the teenage years is a challenge, but she and Wilkerson are focused on teaching their kids the value of giving back. In 2019, Hart partnered with World Vision to sponsor three sisters in Zambia who are similar in age to her own sons. The family has visited the girls' village twice, gaining insight into their struggles and providing them with necessary support.
This year, Hart is lending her support to World Vision's Gift Catalog, which includes over 100 life-saving gifts ranging from $16 to $50,000. Donations through the Catalog assist families internationally and domestically in lifting themselves out of poverty. The actress also has her own "Beads of Blessing" bracelet available for purchase.
“The Beads of Blessing bracelet, made by artisans in Africa, is offered in the gift catalog,” she stated. “You can gift this to someone - a teacher, a mother, anyone. The money will go towards supporting the projects that World Vision does.”
