Hargitay has been portraying Captain Benson since SVU premiered on NBC in 1999. The beloved series is currently airing its milestone 25th season, with the finale scheduled for Thursday, May 16.

According to Hargitay, the season finale is particularly special. She described it as "beautiful" and "profound", sharing that it contains a message she learned from a close friend in law enforcement. This message holds significant meaning for her character Olivia, making it a fitting conclusion for the season.

SVU was officially renewed for a 26th season in March, and Hargitay told Us that she — and Benson — have no plans to leave any time soon.

"I'm still very much involved with SVU and have a lot of responsibilities there that keep me creatively engaged. It's definitely challenging, but I enjoy it. At the same time, I've also experienced some amazing moments," she shared. "I'm content and satisfied with where I am in life. I'm excited to see what the future holds, but for now, I'm enjoying the journey."

Mariska Hargitay, in addition to her ongoing role on SVU, recently collaborated with Purina to introduce the "Courageous Together" statue created by artist Kristen Visbal. This statue depicts a woman and her dog linked by a purple leash, symbolizing their journey to safety after escaping an abusive situation.

For Hargitay, partnering with Purina to raise awareness for the Purple Leash Project was an easy decision.
