Despite Manchester City's usual dominance, they struggled to win for several weeks, only managing to secure one victory in six Premier League games. However, they finished the year on a high note by winning a record fifth trophy at the Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia. Additionally, they displayed their strength as defending Premier League champions by convincingly defeating Everton 3-1, despite initially being behind in the match.
City's comeback win against a struggling Everton was a clear declaration of their determination to secure a spot in the top four of the table. Their recent struggle to defend their title has been evident in their tendency to concede late in the game, resulting in dropped points.

Manchester City created history by clinching the Club World Cup title.
"We achieved a huge victory after returning from Saudi Arabia as world champions," stated City's manager Pep Guardiola.
"We were thrilled with our team's reaction, which once again highlighted the special qualities and strong mentality of our players. City made a strong start, with numerous chances to score, but were thwarted by Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford's consecutive saves, denying both Julián Ãlvarez and Jack Grealish."
Everton took the lead as City's defense faltered and Rodri lost possession to Dwight McNeil, who then set up Jack Harrison for the opening goal. City found themselves down 1-0 and were at risk of falling eight points behind league leader Liverpool. Harrison nearly scored again, but Ederson's impressive save denied him a second goal.
City has put together one of the most dominant teams in Premier League history and showed its title-winning abilities by coming from behind to score three goals in the second half. The comeback was sparked by a stunning goal from Phil Foden in the 53rd minute, with a powerful strike from outside the box that beat Pickford and landed in the net. This showcased the team's abundance of talent.

Once the City juggernaut has been kickstarted, it often proves unstoppable and 10 minutes later, Ãlvarezs penalty gave Guardiolas team the lead for the first time.
Bernardo Silva's opportune goal in the 86th minute sealed victory for Manchester City, as Pickford's mistake in clearing the ball proved costly for Everton.
"We aim to be competitive. Although we're not currently leading the league, anything can happen," Guardiola commented. "The Premier League is unpredictable, with teams in the lower and mid-table tiers capable of defeating anyone. There will be many surprises, and the goal is to remain in the mix."
"We are really pleased for the victory except to concede a goal after we played really good. But the second half we increased our rhythm, played to the wingers and it was really really good."
