Love Island’s Jess Hardings became a sensation online when she accidentally called cornrows “conrads.”

During a chat about season 10 of the popular U.K. show, the 23-year-old winner, along with Sammy Root, shared a funny story about her co-star Whitney Adebayo. Adebayo would cleverly hide her straight-back braids in between swapping wigs while filming the reality dating series.

Adebayo, who is 26 years old and owns her own hair line called CC Hair, decided to wear a protective style under her extensions and weaves. She wanted to keep this look hidden from viewers, as reported by Hardings.

In a video shared via TikTok on Monday, June 4, Hardings revealed a secret about Whitney's wig changes in the villa. When Whitney changed her wig, she would use something called conrads. Adebayo and her friend Liz Browns were also present in the video.

Before Hardings could finish her thought, Adebayo erupted in laughter. “Jess, that killed me!” she said as Browns clarified, “You mean cornrows?”

Hardings responded with a "Yeah!" before diving back into her story. According to her, Adebayo used to strategically expose one boob and switch wigs quickly. Due to this tactic, cameras were unable to film her in the dressing room, thus preventing her cornrows from being shown on TV.

Adebayo added, "I would literally sit there naked... They were not catching [my braids]. They want me to be a meme. I said no!"

Producers managed to capture her blossoming romance with Lochan Nowacki. They fell for each other during Casa Amor, and Adebayo decided to bring him back to the main villa with her. The season ended with them as the runner-ups, coming in second place behind Hardings and Root. However, Hardings and Root shocked fans by announcing their split just two months after the July 2023 finale.

Adebayo and Nowacki are still going strong.
