Loki Season 2 is set to make its return on Disney+ in the near future. However, before its official release, attendees of Disney's Destination D23 event in Florida had the exclusive opportunity to watch the first five minutes of the Season 2 premiere. Unfortunately, this footage has not been made available online. Fortunately, we were present at the event and can provide you with a detailed report, but be warned that the following contains spoilers from the first five minutes of the premiere. It's important to note that the true significance of these scenes may only become apparent as the story unfolds.
Co-executive producer Kevin Wright made an appearance at Destination D23 over the weekend, where he unveiled the first five minutes of the new season. Along with the sneak peek, he provided some important context about what has transpired since the Season 1 finale of Loki. Essentially, nothing significant has occurred.
Season 2 picks up immediately after Season 1, with Loki (Tom Hiddleston) navigating the Time Variance Authority in search of Mobius (Owen Wilson). However, there is a setback as Mobius fails to recognize Loki upon their reunion. The demise of He Who Remains in the Season 1 finale has left the multiverse in a precarious state. Furthermore, Loki is experiencing temporal disruptions while evading the TVA in his current timeline.
At one point, he bravely jumps off a balcony, landing on a taxi that subsequently crashes. It is during this moment that Loki encounters the TVA receptionist Casey (played by Eugene Cordero), who does not recognize him. However, due to another anomaly, Loki finds himself back in a version of his previous timeline, where Casey now remembers him. In this new timeline, Loki realizes that the consequences of the taxi crash have followed him. As a result, Loki experiences a glitch and vanishes once again, leaving behind the timeline where he is known.
The exact nature of these events remains unclear, but it appears that the multiverse might be collapsing in some manner. We will only discover the full implications when Loki returns for Season 2 on October 6th. Perhaps, with the second season, we will obtain a clearer understanding of what lies ahead in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the next few years.
