In episode 3 of Loki season 2 titled "1893," there are significant revelations about Kang and the TVA as Loki travels back in time. The season 2 premiere of Loki raised many questions and provided few answers as Loki finds himself navigating through the past, present, and future of the MCU's TVA. Ravonna Renslayer's location has remained a mystery to Loki, Mobius, and the other members of the TVA since her departure in the season 1 finale. In episode 2 of Loki season 2, a hint is given that her TemPad has been activated, revealing her whereabouts to be in the year "1893". However, it seems that the 1968 Chicago and 1983 time jumps featured in the episode may not have been Ravonna's immediate destinations after leaving the TVA in season 1. Initially in search of "free will", Ravonna has now joined forces with Miss Minutes to execute an important plan. It is likely that a significant amount of time has passed for her since leaving the TVA, although not much time has elapsed for the rest of the Loki cast.

The episode refrains from delving into the specific details of how or when these instructions were transmitted, other than suggesting that He Who Remains anticipated his imminent demise and devised measures to safeguard the Sacred Timeline during his temporary absence.

It becomes evident that He Who Remains dispatched Ravonna to the year 1868 with the task of delivering a handbook to a young Victor Timely from the TVA. In line with the prevailing themes of the season, this situation creates a paradox. Timely would never have founded the TVA if he hadn't received the handbook, yet without his establishment of the organization, the handbook wouldn't exist. While it hasn't been officially confirmed that Timely is He Who Remains himself, it appears improbable that the latter would assist a different variant given his apprehension towards them.

Loki and Mobius journey to 1983 Chicago to track down Miss Minutes, hoping she can override the closed blast door of the Temporal Loom in the absence of He Who Remains. Surprisingly, they encounter Victor TImely before anyone else. Loki, still reeling from the recent death of He Who Remains, is visibly shaken. This scene, where Loki reveals Timely's identity to Mobius, was previously featured as the post-credits scene in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

6 Timely Is Building A Temporal Loom To Power The Earth

In the first episode of Loki season 2, a groundbreaking invention called the Temporal Loom was introduced. This enormous device has the ability to connect and stabilize all the different timelines within the multiverse, merging them into a single coherent thread. In Loki season 2, episode 1, it is revealed that Ravonna and He Who Remains had a close bond during the Multiversal War, which suggests a potential romantic relationship between them. "1893" offers hints of their connection as Victor and Ravonna share intimate moments together. However, their blossoming relationship takes a sudden turn when Miss Minutes seemingly manipulates Timely to abandon Renslayer in the middle of Lake Michigan, citing his "no partners" rule. Although they manage to reunite briefly later in the episode, their journey together begins on a rocky note.

This poignant mirror of Sylvie's own journey solidifies her conviction that everyone deserves the freedom to forge their own destinies. With a newfound empathy, she allows Victor to accompany Loki and Mobius to the TVA.

Then, Sylvie finds herself face to face with Renslayer, another individual she had sworn to eliminate. However, acknowledging the destructive power of her violent fixation, she shows mercy – albeit not as forgivingly as Timely. Sylvie forcefully propels Ravonna through a Time Door, ultimately reaching the dilapidated Citadel at the End of Time, where she stumbles upon the lifeless body of He Who Remains.
