Lisa Ann Walter Reflects on How Her Late Mother's Influence Led to Victory on 'Celebrity Jeopardy!'

Discover how Lisa Ann Walter overcame challenges on 'Celebrity Jeopardy!' and credits her late mother for her triumphant win.

During an interview on Live With Kelly And Mark on Tuesday, March 19, Celebrity Jeopardy! winner Lisa Ann Walter shared about her experience securing the top prize.

When host Mark Consuelos asked her about the most challenging aspect of playing Jeopardy!, Walter, who is 60 years old, immediately mentioned the buzzer. She also humorously mentioned the difficulty of not sweating in her leather jacket during the intense game.

"It's really tough," the star of Abbott Elementary confessed, pointing out the challenges of playing on the show compared to playing at home.

"When I'm playing at home, I can take my time and think, 'Oh, I know this... the Magna Carta,' or whatever it may be. But on the show, you have to wait until they finish reading the question before you can buzz in. And if you buzz in too early, you get locked out," she explained.

Walter explained that if you buzz in too early, the other contestants have a chance to answer. Only if they give an incorrect answer, then you can try buzzing in again.

Kelly Ripa shared her confusion with the questions asked on the show. She mentioned that sometimes the questions are unclear, making it difficult to understand if they are asking for the name of the actor, the show, or something else.

Walter successfully maneuvered through the game despite feeling overwhelmed and under pressure, ultimately securing victory with a million-dollar final answer.

After winning, Walter fondly recalled a touching moment when she sensed her late mother's presence while answering the last question.

Walter shared that she won on the final Jeopardy question, even though the other two contestants were ahead of her initially. They were faster on the buzzer, but both of them answered incorrectly.

The question was about a 1930 novel by Mary Roberts Rinehart called The Door. When Walter heard the beginning of the question, she felt anxious and doubted if she would know the answer.

"My mother used to be a teacher who loved reading up to four mystery novels at once. One day, she appeared to me for the first time since her passing. She excitedly exclaimed, 'The butler did it!' and that's when I won a million dollars."

Walter’s season of Celebrity Jeopardy! concluded in January and her winnings were donated to The Entertainment Community Fund.
