Linda Evangelista, one of the world's original supermodels, continues to captivate attention, yet she states that she currently has no interest in dating. In an interview with the Sunday Times, the 58-year-old elaborated on her lack of desire to be in a relationship at this time.
"I no longer want to be intimate with anyone," she stated. "I can't stand the sound of another person breathing."
Evangelista admitted that she couldn't even recall the last time she went on a date, but she was certain it was "definitely before the CoolSculpting."
In 2022, she reached a settlement in a lawsuit against Zeltiq Aesthetics, a unit of Allergan Aesthetics, after stating that she was "brutally disfigured" from CoolSculpting. Instead, she alleged that it resulted in paradoxical adipose hyperplasia (PAH), a rare side effect of the fat-freezing procedure that causes fatty tissue to thicken and enlarge in the treated area.
While she initially sued for $50 million, the details of the settlement have not been disclosed.
During her most recent interview, Evangelista shared that she has found solace in therapy, as the lumps on her body have begun to soften.
"I've stopped blaming myself. I'm no longer so hard on myself. And while I still struggle with how people perceive me, it used to affect me much more. Now I know that I didn't do anything wrong," she explained. "For the longest time, I believed that I had. I'm not completely free from it, but I'm working hard to let go of the guilt and shame. I refuse to let it ruin my life. If I had known how many people cared, I wouldn't have suffered in silence."
She also spoke about her two battles with breast cancer, revealing that she underwent a bilateral mastectomy in 2018. She expressed that she now lives with a greater appreciation for life, citing that she lives, "with one foot in the grave."
She credited her 17-year-old son, Augie, whom she shares with French billionaire businessman François-Henri Pinault, for helping her find the strength to overcome her health struggles and embrace life again.
"Remember how fun you used to be? Remember when you laughed all the time?" Evangelista's son asked, prompting her to have a wake-up call. "That was it," she said. "No more feeling sorry for myself. I'm going to fix this."
