Manuel Garcia-Rulfo hints at an intriguing new case in season 2 of The Lincoln Lawyer. The popular Netflix legal drama, which is based on the book series (partially adapted into a 2011 film starring Matthew McConaughey), follows Mickey Haller, a criminal-defense attorney who operates his practice out of a Lincoln vehicle in Los Angeles. The talented cast also features Neve Campbell, Becki Newton, Jazz Raycole, Angus Sampson, and Christopher Gorham, with Lana Parrilla, Yaya DaCosta, Angélica María, and Matt Angel joining in the upcoming season.
In a recent interview with TV Insider, ahead of The Lincoln Lawyer season 2 premiere, Garcia-Rulfo offered a glimpse into Mickey's new case. Following a victorious outcome in season 1, Mickey begins this new case full of confidence, but soon encounters a series of unexpected twists and turns. Garcia-Rulfo also discussed Mickey's relationships with the various women in his life, particularly his intense mother Elena, portrayed by Angélica María in season 2. Here's what Garcia-Rulfo had to say:
You encounter a self-assured Mickey who is at the pinnacle of his abilities, but this case is filled with numerous unexpected turns.
The situation becomes truly devastating due to the profound and authentic love shared between Mickey and Maggie. Their love is further complicated by the fact that they have a daughter named Hayley, portrayed by Krista Warner. However, given the circumstances, their journey is challenging. Mexican mothers possess a humorous trait as they tend to treat their adult children like youngsters. This dynamic in their relationship is something that will undoubtedly appeal to people.
What To Expect From The Lincoln Lawyer Season 2's New Case
At the start of season 2, García-Rulfo notes that Mickey is still enjoying the aftermath of his victory in the Trevor Elliot case from season 1, which brings him a lot of newfound fame. Shortly after wrapping up his previous case, Mickey finds himself thrust into a new one involving the high-profile murder of a notorious real estate developer named Mitchell Bondurant. However, things become even more complicated when Mickey meets and forms a romantic relationship with Lisa Trammell, a chef who is accused of the murder.
This is just the beginning of the many twists that viewers can expect in The Lincoln Lawyer season 2, which is based on Michael Connelly's fourth book in the series titled The Fifth Witness. As Mickey digs deeper into the case, he uncovers that Lisa is actually a victim of foreclosure and is accused of killing the banker who caused her financial difficulties. Moreover, Mickey unravels a network of corruption and dishonesty involving influential individuals in the banking industry. Audiences won't have to wait long to find out what surprises The Lincoln Lawyer season 2 holds, as Part 1 will be available on Netflix starting July 6.
