Lily Gladstone's Titanic Obsession: How Leonardo DiCaprio Sparked a Lifelong Passion

Lily Gladstone's admiration for Leonardo DiCaprio's work was evident even before their collaboration in the film 'Killers of the Flower Moon' Her fascination with DiCaprio led her to invest her allowance in a 'Titanic' VHS tape, showcasing her early connection with the acclaimed actor

Lily Gladstone was already familiar with Leonardo DiCaprio's work in film before they starred together in the 2023 drama "Killers of the Flower Moon." Her admiration for DiCaprio's acting includes his iconic role as Jack Dawson in the 1997 film "Titanic," which she loved from the time of its original release.

Gladstone shared with People in a recent interview that one of the first things she used her allowance on was pre-ordering the double VHS set of the movie from Toys R Us. She clarified that she didn't fully buy into the hype surrounding Leonardo DiCaprio at the time, instead expressing her love for the film and for Kate Winslet. She added that she also liked DiCaprio because of his portrayal of Jack Dawson in the movie.

In sixth grade, I used to project my crushes onto Jack Dawson from Titanic, even though it wasn't really about him," she recalled. Fast forward two decades, and Gladstone was acting alongside the Oscar-winner in the Martin Scorsese-directed "Killers of the Flower Moon." In 2021, she also shared that she received a special invitation from DiCaprio himself.

"I received a text on my phone from an unknown number saying, 'Hey, this is Leo. Do you want to come over for dinner?' I looked at it and thought, 'Is this really him?'" She said.

Once it was verified that it was indeed DiCaprio, Gladstone shared that they "spent time by the fire outside his home and reminisced about their childhood over dinner."

"Killers of the Flower Moon," now available on demand, has garnered Oscar buzz since it premiered in theaters in October.
