Introduction to Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth

Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has revealed that its next game, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, will feature a roguelike dungeon. The game will have an all-new home base to explore as fans fly from Japan to the tropical paradise of Hawaii in this entry of the Yakuza series. The open-world map of Honolulu was confirmed by the studio to be three times larger than Isezaki Ijincho, the central playable city in Yakuza: Like a Dragon. Infinite Wealth promises to be one of the largest in the series, not only in terms of map size but also playtime, as there will be a number of returning minigames in the game. The announcement of a new type of dungeon for players to engage in adds to the already-packed list of activities, such as fan favorites like Shogi and karaoke, that the latest Like a Dragon game will have. There will be new additions that the studio teased back in October at the Xbox Partner Preview showcase, where it was announced that Infinite Wealth would be receiving an Animal Crossing-like mode, Dondoko Island. This new activity will have players swim on a dolphin to the new destination, where they can not only customize the entire island but also make friends with the characters living there.

Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio announced on Twitter that it has updated the Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth website to give fans a look at some of the new features that the new title holds. Players who enjoy the roguelike genre will especially be pleased as the studio revealed that the game will have an all-new dungeon that will change every time they enter. In addition to the introduction of this new dungeon, the studio also revealed a new weapon customization system where players will not only be able to create them but also enhance them in order to get even more diverse weapons befitting an RPG. The summon feature from Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Poundmates is also making its return in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. The system has received an upgrade, taking it from just being a one-turn summon that could heal, apply buffs and debuffs, and even damage enemies to now also having the option for the characters to fight alongside players as party members for a few turns.
