Letty's Fast & Furious Future: What Comes Next for the Franchise's Legacy Characters

Michelle Rodriguez hints at Letty's future in the Fast & Furious franchise after the finale As the core characters' journey comes to an end, what's next for the legacy characters? Find out as Letty's fate is teased by the Fast X star

Fast and Furious star Michelle Rodriguez has hinted at the future of Letty's character in the franchise after the conclusion of the final film. Rodriguez has been a part of the franchise since its debut in 2001, reprising her role for most of the sequels, including the latest installment, Fast X. The upcoming movie is set to be the first part of a grand finale for the core characters, with one or even two more films in the works to end the Fast Saga.

During a recent interview with Variety, Rodriguez suggested that Letty's role in Fast and Furious may continue even after the final film, albeit in a different way. For her full comment, check out the video interview below: {{video_placeholder_1}}

"When it comes to passing the torch to the next generation in the Fast & Furious franchise, it's important to take a step back and let them take the driver's seat. Legacy characters must learn to sit shotgun and allow the future to be defined by the new generation."

Rogriguez's response not only applies to Letty's future in the Fast & Furious franchise, but also to other beloved legacy characters such as Dom (Vin Diesel), Mia (Jordana Brewster), Han (Sung Kang), Roman (Tyrese Gibson), and Tej (Chris "Ludacris" Bridges). Although these characters' time in the spotlight may be nearing its end, it's reasonable to assume that the Fast & Furious universe will continue to thrive in the form of spinoffs and perhaps even a new saga following the release of Fast & Furious 11 or 12.

.

New characters such as Tess, Isabel, and Ramsey have the potential to take the franchise to new heights, while the original cast could make appearances in more supporting roles. Alternatively, the series could take a major leap forward in time, with Dom's son growing up and embarking on his own adventures alongside Brian and Mia's son.

However, it's important that the saga gives the core group of characters a proper sendoff, rather than simply setting them up for future cameos. After over two decades, it's time for the Fast Saga to come to a satisfying conclusion and bring the story full circle. While legacy characters may still have a place in the franchise's future, the focus should be on delivering a fitting ending to a beloved story.
