Legendary Gargoyles Game Set to Unleash an Epic Comeback Next Month

Gargoyles Remastered, developed by Empty Clip Studios, will be available on all current platforms starting October 19. The game is a follow-up to the original Gargoyles game created by Disney Interactive nearly three decades ago to coincide with the popular cartoon series that aired from 1994 to 1997. Physical releases of the game will be handled by Limited Run Games.

Disney developed and published the original version of Gargoyles in-house for the Sega Genesis, releasing it in November 1995. The game mirrored the concept of the cartoon, with the Gargoyles coming to life at night and turning to stone during the day. Players controlled Goliath and fought various enemies, including Vikings from Castle Wyvern in Scotland's past, as well as supernatural and mechanical adversaries in modern-day Manhattan, New York. The hand-drawn sprites and animations of the characters garnered a loyal fanbase. In 2022, news of Gargoyles Remastered surfaced during the Disney and Marvel Games Showcase.

Now, after nearly a year, Gargoyles Remastered will soon be accessible to players. The game is set to launch on Thursday, October 19, across all modern platforms. Gargoyles Remastered will be part of an impressive lineup for October, alongside titles like Super Mario Bros. Wonder and Marvel's Spider-Man 2. In a trailer shared on social media, Disney Games and Empty Clip Studios showcased Gargoyles Remastered in action. Keith David, who voiced Goliath, returns to reprise his role and narrate the show's intro verbatim. The trailer also revealed the ability for players to switch between the original Genesis sprites and the remastered art style in the game.

The game offers a rewind system allowing players to rectify mistakes and conquer challenging jumps and boss battles. Alongside the updated gameplay, players can earn achievements and choose between two soundtracks: original and remastered. Developed by San Diego-based Empty Clip Studios, known for their work on Streets of Kamurocho and NHL 94 Rewind, Gargoyles Remastered will be available in both digital and physical formats through Limited Run Games. Fans of Gargoyles can look forward to becoming a nocturnal warrior once again without much delay.

Gargoyles Remastered launches on October 19 for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
