The third set of documents related to a lawsuit involving Jeffrey Epstein, the deceased convicted pedophile, who was awaiting trial on federal sex-trafficking charges, were made public on Friday. This release comes after the unsealing of hundreds of pages of documents earlier in the week, with more anticipated to be released.
The documents that were unsealed are related to a 2015 civil defamation case filed by Virginia Roberts Giuffre, an American woman who accused Epstein of sexually abusing her when she was a minor, and alleged that Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein's former girlfriend, had aided in the abuse. The unsealing of these documents this week was a result of a court order from the judge overseeing the lawsuit, in response to legal efforts by the media to make the documents public.
It is expected that the total number of names included in the documents, including those yet to be unsealed, will be close to 200, and may include some of Epstein's accusers, as well as well-known businesspeople, politicians, and others.
