Lala Kent, a soon-to-be mother of two, recently discussed the process of choosing a sperm donor for her second child.
During the March 4 episode of her podcast "Give Them Lala," Kent revealed that she found her donor through the California Cryobank. She mentioned that the sperm bank collaborated closely with the fertility specialist who assisted her with intrauterine insemination (IUI).
Kent pointed out that only a small percentage of women, about 10%, visit the California Cryobank to select a donor for single parenthood, like herself. She emphasized that for some, like her, the main goal is simply to have a child and rely on a donor for assistance.
When it came to choosing a donor, the Vanderpump Rules star shared that looks were not a top priority for her. She also mentioned that intelligence was not a crucial factor, stating, "I didn't need them to be extremely smart because I'm not."
Kent's donor has a special connection to her and ex Randall Emmett's 2-year-old daughter, Ocean, as his favorite song and poem both relate to the ocean. The reality star mentioned that she has not seen adult photos of her donor, as donors have the option to not share them with recipients.
Kent expressed her concerns about the outside world and the challenges her baby might face due to not everyone being as progressive as they are in Los Angeles. She wanted to eliminate as many questions as possible about her child's appearance and background.
She emphasized the importance of her child having a similar aesthetic look to herself, her mother, and Ocean to prevent them from encountering difficult questions about their parentage. Kent acknowledged that the world can be tough even for those from normal families and she did not want to add any additional challenges for her child.

Upon turning 18, the California Cryobank allows the child to access information about their sperm donor if they have any questions or want to connect with their biological father, as explained by Kent.
Kent shared the news of her second pregnancy on Sunday, March 3, by posting a photo on Instagram showing her son Ocean looking at her baby bump. The Bravo star had already disclosed her intention to undergo IUI during an interview with Cosmopolitan in January.
She shared with the outlet earlier this year that she never expected to be on this path. She had always envisioned herself in a traditional relationship and starting a family. However, she expressed gratitude for the unexpected turn her life has taken.
During a podcast on Monday, Kent disclosed that she became pregnant after her initial round of IUI. In December 2023, before a holiday trip, she took several pregnancy tests because the news felt surreal to her.
She expressed surprise at finding out she was pregnant with her second baby so quickly. She had expected more time to adjust to the idea of becoming a mom again. Even her fertility doctor joked that it felt like a quick introduction before saying goodbye.
Kent also humorously mentioned that she's not good at keeping her own secrets, as news of her pregnancy didn't remain under wraps for long. She joked that she can keep others' secrets but struggles to keep her own.
