Kid Cudi kicked off his 2024 Coachella set with high energy, but unfortunately, ended it on a sour note.

The 40-year-old artist was a last-minute addition to the lineup for the second weekend of Coachella 2024, making a return to the festival on Sunday, April 22, after headlining in 2019. Cudi's performance started off strong, with crowd favorites like "Tequila Shots," "Sad People," and "Up Up & Away" getting the audience pumped. He even surprised fans by debuting two new songs live for the first time - "MOON MAN SH—T" and "BLUE SKY" from his latest releases, Insano and Insano (Nitro Mega).

During his performance of David Guetta's "Memories" remix, Cudi wanted to connect with his fans. In a video of the incident, the rapper moved towards the front of the stage and jumped over some equipment into the photo pit. Upon landing, Cudi fell to the ground and was unable to stand up on his own. Security quickly came to his aid and escorted him off stage while the music continued to play.

As a result of his fall, Cudi's performance had to be cut short. Hours later, he updated his fans on social media. "Hey guys, so I broke my foot today at the show," he shared on X, adding a facepalm emoji. "Just leaving the hospital. I've never broken a bone before, so this is all a bit crazy."

“I wanna thank u all for ur concerns and well wishes!!” he added. “I love yall, man. I heard yall still ragin when I was offstage. Made me smile big.”

Cudi's Insano World Tour is set to start this summer. The tour will have 43 shows, starting in North America on July 28 in Austin, Texas, and ending on August 30 at Los Angeles' Crypto.com arena. The European leg of the tour will kick off in February 2025 with twelve dates in countries such as Germany, Italy, France, and the UK.

Pusha T will join Cudi on the tour, and Jaden Smith, Earthgang, Chelsea Pastel, and Siena Bella will perform on selected dates.

Despite Cudi’s injury, the second weekend of Coachella was generally more low-key compared to the first. Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, who were spotted at the first weekend, did not make an appearance at the second, possibly due to Swift's busy schedule with the release of The Tortured Poets Department.

Unlike the first weekend, there were fewer surprise performances during the second weekend. No Doubt took to the stage for their second reunion show of the year, without Olivia Rodrigo this time. However, headliners Tyler, the Creator and Lana Del Rey didn't disappoint. Tyler, 33, brought out Earl Sweatshirt from Odd Future, while Del Rey, 38, showed her support for Camila Cabello's new single by inviting her on stage to perform "I Luv It" together.

Kid Cudi's unfortunate fall at Coachella 2024 was a disheartening end to an otherwise energetic and engaging performance. Despite the mishap, Cudi showed his resilience by updating his fans on social media, expressing gratitude for their support, and confirming that his upcoming Insano World Tour will continue as planned. Cudi's dedication to his craft is commendable, as he is determined to deliver exceptional performances for his fans despite his injury.

The second weekend of Coachella offered a distinct atmosphere compared to the first, with a more subdued energy level. However, the festival still provided memorable moments, including No Doubt's reunion and standout performances from Tyler, the Creator and Lana Del Rey. While the surprise element was less prevalent during this weekend, the festival remained a platform for diverse musical acts to showcase their talents. Cudi's presence, even if cut short, further solidified his status as a beloved performer, and his injury serves as a reminder of the challenges artists often face in delivering memorable experiences for their audiences.
