Kevin Bacon, who is 65 years old, is preparing to wear his famous dancing shoes again. He recently shared his excitement about attending prom at Payson High School in Payson, Utah. This is the same high school where he filmed the iconic movie Footloose over 40 years ago.
A group of students from Payson High initiated a grassroots campaign to invite the actor to attend their final prom at the school before it relocates at the end of the school year.
On a segment of the Today show on Friday, March 22, Payson High student Rubie Raff shared how the movie's lasting impact continues to be felt in the town after all these years.
"It means a lot to me because everyone around us cares about it so much," she explained.
Therefore, Bacon decided to surprise the entire student body of Payson High by appearing in a video in the school's gymnasium to express gratitude for all their hard work.

He also thanked the Payson students for organizing a prom event to support his charity organization, Six Degrees. The organization, established in 2007, aims to enhance local communities through various initiatives.
Bacon acknowledged, "I have noticed your efforts, including your connection to SixDegrees.org, our foundation, and your desire to give back to the community. It's truly inspiring."

He exclaimed, "Thank you, thank you, I'm gonna come! I gotta come!" The gymnasium erupted into thunderous applause. Raff, who was standing by, told Bacon, "Let's dance! We're gonna do it! This is awesome!"
Kaleb Dymock, a student at Payson High, shared his enthusiasm for the big reveal. "We're gonna have an awesome party, Kevin," he exclaimed.
Released in February 1984, Footloose has been just as important to Kevin Bacon as it has been to the town of Payson throughout the years.
He shared with Today in 2022 that being part of the movie was a wonderful gift. He took his role seriously and is happy that even now, people tell him that they enjoy sharing the film with their children.
