Kelly Rowland recently opened up about a tense encounter she had with security while walking the red carpet at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.
During an interview with AP Entertainment on Thursday, May 23, the 43-year-old singer stated, "The woman knows what happened, I know what happened. I have my boundaries and I will always stand by them."
Rowland observed that there were other women at the event who did not resemble her. She noticed that they were not scolded or pushed away like she was.
Rowland shared, "I stayed firm, and she felt the need to do the same. But I stood my ground."
The incident that went viral happened when Rowland was getting his picture taken at the premiere of the French-Italian film Marcello Mio on Tuesday, May 21. As he was being escorted up the red carpet stairs by security, Rowland turned around and appeared to scold one of them.
While talking to the staff member, Rowland pointed her finger at him. Even though people on the internet tried to figure out what was being said, the actual conversation remains unknown.

Rowland's decision to leave the set of the Today show earlier this year led to an interaction with the hosts.
After speaking with Savannah Guthrie on the NBC morning show, Rowland was supposed to cohost with Hoda Kotb in place of Jenna Bush Hager. However, Rita Ora appeared on the February episode instead.
Later that month, Rowland was given the opportunity to address the situation but chose not to. She expressed her excitement to talk about her movie, Mea Culpa, during an appearance on Chicago's WGN News.
It was rumored that Rowland left Today because she was unhappy with her dressing room. Guthrie, 52, acknowledged that Rowland's concerns were legitimate.
"We need a remodel. We need Extreme Makeover: Today Show Dressing Room Edition," she joked to Entertainment Tonight in February. Guthrie explained that the historic studio, 1A, has been used for decades. It's incredible and iconic, but it's old.
Guthrie noted that when guests enter the dressing rooms, they "get the good with the bad." However, above all, she hopes they feel a "warm hug."
“If you want history, sometimes you’re gonna have a few little chips of paint coming off the wall,” Guthrie said. “We try to do our best.”
