Kelly Clarkson has no interest in pursuing a relationship with any well-known bachelors after her divorce from Brandon Blackstock. The 41-year-old American Idol alum opened up about her reluctance to date during an interview on The Howard Stern Show, right before the release of her album Chemistry on Friday, June 23. "I will eventually," she expressed. "But for now, I simply don't want to. It feels incredibly draining."

Clarkson expressed her reluctance to rely on dating apps in her search for love, stating that she will certainly not be using them. She emphasized that she does not hold any negative opinions about dating apps, but rather, they simply make her feel apprehensive.

On the other hand, the talented artist behind "Breakaway" revealed that she would not hesitate to take the initiative and ask someone out. She shared that she believes she has moved past the emotional challenges of her divorce and is currently relishing in her own company.

When asked by Howard Stern about the possibility of spotting Clarkson on a date with Pete Davidson, the Voice coach burst into laughter. Admitting that the comedian, 29, known for his previous involvements with Kim Kardashian, Ariana Grande, and others, is undeniably cute and funny, she playfully remarked, "Pete Davidson, you are wonderful, but no. I am not seeking a relationship."

After his initial suggestion was rejected, Stern, age 69, mentioned another prominent figure: Tom Brady. The former NFL athlete, aged 45, publicly announced in October 2022 that he and Gisele Bündchen had ended their marriage, which had lasted over a decade.

Taking this into consideration, Clarkson contemplated the possibility but ultimately concluded that Brady was not the right person for her. She explained, "I possess a great deal of confidence as a woman. However, I do not believe I would like to follow in the footsteps of Gisele Bündchen... How could I not think about that when I am intimately involved with him?"

The singer of "Because of You" may not be fully prepared to enter the dating scene, but she does have a few celebrity crushes, although they are quite unconventional. Rather than being attracted to real people, she is drawn to the characters they portray. She playfully mentioned Nathan Fillion's character from the popular ABC show Castle as one of her favorites. "I have crushes on fictional characters," she revealed.

Since her separation from Blackstock in June 2020, Clarkson has been open about her aspirations for the future. The couple had been married for almost seven years before confirming that the musician had filed for divorce. They have two children together, River Rose (9) and Remington (7).

The duo's divorce proceedings, which were concluded in March 2022, quickly turned contentious. Clarkson was granted primary custody of their children, while Blackstock received monthly visitation rights. As part of their settlement, the renowned singer of "Since U Been Gone" agreed to make a one-time payment of $1.3 million to her ex, along with ongoing spousal support of $115,000 per month until January 2024.

Drawing from her personal experiences, Clarkson used her emotional journey as the basis for her latest album, and she informed her former spouse in advance of its release.

"We had a brief exchange about it," she revealed on the Today show this month. "I can't even remember why or how it happened, but I made it clear that I didn't want to reduce us to just one thing. You know what I mean? It's all part of the journey. There's beauty in it too. Of course, there's a lot of pain, but that's life for all of us."

The aftermath of her breakup was challenging, but Clarkson also admitted to struggling long before she and Blackstock separated. "To be completely honest, I didn't handle it well... I was crying so hard, even before we split," she confessed to Apple Music's Zane Lowe prior to the release of Chemistry. "There were patterns or habits that I didn't realize were unhealthy until I looked back. Hindsight makes things clearer."
