Kelly Clarkson Seeks $26 Million in Overcharged Commission from Ex-Husband

Kelly Clarkson's ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, faces allegations of overcharging her by over $26 million in commission fees, pertaining to her concerts and brand deals Discover the financial turmoil that unfolded between the former couple

Brandon Blackstock allegedly overcharged Kelly Clarkson by millions of dollars during his time as her music manager.

Legal documents acquired by TMZ show that a California labor commissioner has ruled that Blackstock, 46, must pay Clarkson, 41, $2,641,374 in commissions. According to the documents, Blackstock was responsible for securing various opportunities for his then-wife, such as coaching on The Voice, hosting the Billboard Music Awards, and securing brand deals with Norwegian Cruise Line and Wayfair. It is noted that managers do not typically have the authority to secure new jobs for their clients, as that is the responsibility of talent agents.

Blackstock is said to have received a significant fee for booking Clarkson's performances, allegedly exceeding the musician's own earnings for each appearance. Although neither Clarkson nor Blackstock have made any public statements regarding the legal dispute, the manager is reportedly intending to contest the decision.

After marrying in 2013, Clarkson and Blackstock had two children together, River Rose (9) and Remington (7). Additionally, Blackstock had two older children from a previous relationship. In June 2020, it was confirmed that Clarkson had filed for divorce after seven years of marriage.

Two years after a contentious and prolonged legal dispute, their divorce was finally settled. Blackstock had fought to claim ownership of Clarkson's Montana property, in which he was residing. Additionally, they had a custody battle over River Rose and Remington. Ultimately, Clarkson retained ownership of the Montana residence and Blackstock was instructed to vacate the property by June 2022. She was also granted primary custody of the children, with her ex-husband having monthly visitation rights.

As part of the settlement, Clarkson agreed to make a one-time payment of $1.3 million to Blackstock, as well as provide him with $115,000 per month in spousal support until January 2024.

As of March 2022, an exclusive source informed Us that Clarkson and Blackstock had made significant progress in their relationship dynamic.

The insider stated, "She has established a strong coparenting relationship with Brandan, although their personal relationship has faced challenges. Nevertheless, they have made significant progress and are effectively managing their children's well-being."

Clarkson, River Rose and Remington have recently moved from Los Angeles to New York City, where the latest season of her show, the Kelly Clarkson Show, is currently filming.

“I felt the need for a change and didn't want to stay in L.A. I really wanted to move to Montana, but it's not practical to do the show from there just yet,” she shared with USA Today in October. “So I decided that the next best option would be New York. I truly enjoy it here, and I'm happy that my children do too.”
