Kelly Clarkson says she’s taking weight-loss medication, but clarified that it’s not Ozempic.

Clarkson, who is 42 years old, discussed her health during the episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show that aired on Monday, May 13. The conversation turned to weight loss when she was chatting with her guest, Whoopi Goldberg.

During their conversation, Clarkson complimented Goldberg, saying, "Every time I see you, you look younger! You're like Benjamin Button. It's amazing how you seem to defy aging every time you walk in!"

Goldberg, 68, shared, "First of all, it’s all the weight I’ve lost. I’ve lost almost two people."

Clarkson responded, "I have lost a lot as well." Goldberg replied, "I see. I am doing that wonderful shot that works for folks who need some help, and it’s been really good for me."

Clarkson shared that her approach to managing her health is different from what people might assume. She mentioned that she eventually had to make a change due to the worsening condition of her bloodwork. Her doctor had been advising her for about two years, but she was initially hesitant because of her existing thyroid issues. Despite common assumptions, the treatment she eventually agreed to was not Ozempic. Instead, it is a different medication that assists in breaking down sugar properly in her body, which her body struggles to do on its own.

Ozempic has gained popularity in Hollywood, with some celebrities admitting to using it while others deny it. Originally designed for high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes management, Ozempic is now being used for rapid weight loss. It's important to note that doctors do not recommend using Ozempic, Wegovy, or Mounjaro for casual weight loss.

Goldberg shared on Clarkson's talk show that she used to weigh 300 pounds.

Clarkson mentioned that at her heaviest, she was around 203 pounds, despite being 5'3 and a half. She also pointed out that people often assumed she must have been unhappy or depressed at that weight, but she clarified that she was not.

Back in January, the singer of “Since U Been Gone” shared on her show that she found out she had prediabetes before shedding pounds.

She mentioned, "I wasn't surprised. I was slightly overweight. But it didn't shock me. They told me, 'You're prediabetic. You're almost there.' I responded, 'But I haven't reached that point yet.'"

Clarkson revealed that she waited for two years before taking action. She mentioned to People magazine that she usually eats a balanced diet. She stated, "I'm good at it 90 percent of the time because a protein-based diet works well for me. Being from Texas, I enjoy meat - apologies to vegetarians!"

Living in New York City has also helped her lose weight since walking around the city is a great workout. She also spends quality time with her kids, daughter River, 9, and son, Remington, 8, whom she shares with her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock.
