Filming Good Burger 2 came with all kinds of perks for Kel Mitchell — including reunions with a few of his former All That costars.
Mitchell, 45, described his time filming the ’90s Nickelodeon sketch comedy as an educational experience in an exclusive interview with We. "Remembering those times [and] the musical guests that used to come on there, all of that is like a university," he said. "Every time we get together with any of the cast members, it’s like a high school reunion."
In Good Burger 2, a sequel to 1997’s Good Burger and a spinoff of an iconic All That comedy sketch, Mitchell starred alongside frequent collaborator Kenan Thompson. The pair reprised their roles as Ed and Dexter Reed for the Paramount+ film, which follows the fast-food workers as they battle against a corporation trying to take over the beloved burger joint.
Working with my brother for all these years, both as friends and in business, has been truly beautiful," Mitchell said of the Saturday Night Live star, who is also 45. "We're really just amazed at the journey we've had."
In addition to Mitchell and Thompson, their former costars Lori Beth Denberg and Josh Server also made guest appearances in the film. "They did a fantastic job," Mitchell shared.
Mitchell finds it surreal that a character he brought to prominence in 1994 is now resonating with a new, younger audience. "Kids who are 5 or 6 years old are having Good Burger parties and they weren't even born when the movie came out," he marveled. (Good Burger 2 quickly became Paramount+'s most-watched original film after its release on the streaming network.) "It's amazing, and it speaks to the talent of our entire team - the writers, everyone. Kenan and I are both just enjoying the ride."
The "All That" Nickelodeon cast
Mitchell's children have become fans of "All That" after watching reruns. The father of four, shares Lyric and Allure with his ex Tyisha Hampton and Wisdom and Honor - who have minor roles in Good Burger 2 - with his wife Asia Lee.

"It was a beautiful moment to watch it with my kids, and they were laughing hysterically," he said. "The jokes still have the same impact!"
When asked about joining forces again, Mitchell and Thompson, who previously worked together on Kenan & Kel, hinted at some upcoming "surprises." "We're excited," he added. "We love being a comedy duo."
In the meantime, Mitchell's primary focus is on his most recent project: collaborating with the World Vision Gift Catalog. This partnership enables individuals to select gifts that can have a significant impact on disadvantaged families worldwide.
