Katie Maloney surprised Vanderpump Rules fans by revealing how comedian Matt Rife nearly appeared on the Bravo show.

During the debut of the "Disrespectfully" podcast on Wednesday, January 10, former co-stars Katie, 36, and Dayna Kathan, 33, shared their conflicted thoughts about Matt, 28. They initially admired his comedy but expressed concerns about his controversial Netflix special "Natural Selection," which faced criticism for jokes about domestic violence, inappropriate comments, and insensitivity towards special needs.

Katie confessed that she had once found Matt to be "funny and attractive," and admitted, "I definitely sent him a direct message." The cofounder of Something About Her also mentioned that there were plans for Matt to appear on season 10 of Vanderpump Rules.

"One of our friends has known him for a long time since he moved to Los Angeles and had a personal relationship with him. So last season on Vanderpump Rules, when Lala [Kent] and I went on a date, we asked Logan to set us up on blind dates with all the [attractive] boys he knew," she recounted. "So he had spoken to Matt."

Katie stated that Matt was enthusiastic when he heard the idea. This was before Matt gained popularity on TikTok. He had initially agreed to go on a date that would be filmed. However, at the last minute, he had a comedy opportunity arise, and the chance to be on TV was appealing to him.

Despite not being able to make a cameo, Katie believed she and Matt were on good terms. However, she was taken aback when she saw an interview in which Matt mentioned the Vanderpump Rules cast as the last people he would want to be stranded with on a desert island.

"I wish he would be more specific. Does he think we're all terrible? It's obvious that he said this during the 'Scandoval' drama, so for him to jump on that bandwagon," she remarked about Matt's disappointing comments. Katie also pointed out that Matt probably never even watched the popular series, so she was puzzled as to why her costars were singled out.
