Katie Holmes Flaunts Spring Shades Despite Freezing Weather

Forget pastels in spring, how about rocking them in fall? Katie Holmes made a statement with her latest street style look in New York City, sporting a pastel green sweater, white flared jeans, white leather boots, and a slouchy black leather jacket. And let's not forget the oversized aviator sunglasses in a bold orange tint to top off the ensemble.

Instead of a purse, Holmes toted a white gift bag filled with hydrangeas, carnations, and freesias, along with a bottle of what appeared to be champagne.

Despite the current autumn season, the sight of Holmes strolling down a New York City sidewalk surrounded by lush plants brings to mind a spring-like ambiance. Paired with her mint green sweater and white denim jeans, it's enough to make us second-guess the date on our calendars.

This fall, pastels are making a surprising comeback. High-end brands such as Loewe, Givenchy, and Paco Robanne showcased the use of soft lilacs, mellow blues, and delicate yellows in their fall/winter 2023 collections. Holmes is known for her unique and unexpected fashion choices, as seen when she attended a book launch in October wearing an olive green deconstructed trench coat as a dress.

In December 2022, she gained notoriety for her controversial decision to wear a tunic top with straight leg jeans and black sneakers. Fashion critics criticized her style choice, but her stylist, Brie Welch, came to her defense in a New York Times interview. Welch stated that Holmes "is more than capable of looking cool in an unintentional trend 20 years later."

In an interview with InStyle in July 2022, Holmes said that the fashion moment “looked way more glamorous than it was.”

She had initially envisioned herself wearing a matching sweater in a cozy cabin by the fire, but realized that wasn't her current reality. Despite her initial doubts, she decided to go for it, inspired by others who had worn bras with blazers.
