In the Shibuya Incident arc, Nobara encounters the infamous curse Mahito, resulting in a thrilling battle. Mahito realizes that Nobara, along with Yuji, is his natural enemy, adding to the intensity. Despite Mahito underestimating his opponent, Nobara devises a counterattack against Idle Transfiguration.
As fans know, physical attacks have little impact on Mahito. However, Nobara's Resonance can directly target the curse's soul and body. Meanwhile, Yuji relies on sheer force to defeat Mahito and halt his reign of terror.
Following a brief period of effective teamwork, the situation takes a turn when Mahito accidentally cuts Nobara's face. In response, there is a sudden shift to a flashback where Nobara is seen touching her injured face. During this flashback, Saori is introduced, expressing curiosity about Nobara's current activities. Once the flashback concludes, Nobara requests that Yuji inform everyone that the situation wasn't as severe as it appears, but then collapses.
Nobara's injuries are severe, with half of her face, including her eye, completely disfigured, and she suffers critical wounds to her head. At this point, Yuji is already mentally and emotionally exhausted due to Sukuna's rampage and witnessing Nanami's death. Therefore, witnessing Nobara's collapse shatters his remaining rationality, causing him to ultimately lose hope of survival.
How long since Nobara’s status has been revealed in Jujutsu Kaisen?
Despite his struggle, he is able to recover thanks to Aoi Todo's intervention. Aoi is accompanied by Arata Nitta, a first-year student at Kyoto Jujutsu High. Though Arata lacks the ability to fully heal wounds, he is able to staunch bleeding and prevent the injury from worsening. He promptly tends to Nobara's injuries, but cannot assure her survival.

Although various tabloids have made claims about Nobara's demise during her battle with Mahito, the manga has not yet confirmed this. In chapter 210, Yuji and Megumi discuss their determination not to have Kurusu serve as a substitute for Nobara. Published in January 2023, this chapter provides no indication of her current condition.
Chapter 210 only confirms that Nobara will not return to the battle, but there is insufficient evidence to definitively prove her death. The latest update regarding Nobara's status in Jujutsu Kaisen is from chapter 127, where Arata states that Nobara has no pulse and is not breathing. However, it has not been much time since she sustained her injuries, and Arata has successfully halted her bleeding.
While Arata does not guarantee her survival, he also mentions that there is still a small chance for her to pull through. He decides to retreat with Nobara in order to seek more professional treatment for her, advising Yuji not to raise his hopes too high. Since then, fans have not been provided with any further information about Nobara's whereabouts.
The chapter was released in October 2020, and it has been nearly three years since Jujutsu Kaisen last updated fans on Nobara's status. Although the manga has not definitively confirmed her death, the significant time gap without any information raises concerns that Kugisaki may have succumbed to her fatal injuries inflicted by Mahito.
