The latest installment of Jujutsu Kaisen, chapter 243, was released in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine this weekend. The episode continues to focus on Fumihiko Takaba and Kenjaku, as they enter what appears to be the final stage of their fight. The chapter's naming motif, chosen by author and illustrator Gege Akutami, further supports this development.
In chapter 243, the battle between the characters continues into its humor-filled final stages, with a surprising outcome revealed by the end of the issue. However, the manner in which the victor prevails is completely unpredictable and catches almost every reader of Akutami’s series off guard.

In Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 243, Takaba and Kenjaku take the stage and jokingly discuss moving plans. They introduce themselves and their comedy group before delving into the story of Momotaro. Kenjaku confesses that he never learned the story because of his single mother's busy schedule, but it is soon revealed to be a lie, leading to a playful exchange between the two. As they continue discussing the Momotaro story, Kenjaku questions the origins of Momotaro and they begin role-playing as characters from the tale.
In Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 243, the characters are seen continuing the Momotaro skit and claiming to have found a golden retriever. They "feed" the kibi dango to the dog, with Takaba attempting to end the skit while Kenjaku "calls the owner" of the dog. They then proceed to discuss the demon lair's Yelp score, which they determine to be a 2.1-star rating.
Kenjaku cancels their reservation and decides to send the monkey and the pheasant from the Momotaro story ahead of them. Takaba reprimands Kenjaku for not following the basic rule of not splitting up forces, but Kenjaku dismisses the pheasant's potential as a soldier. In Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 243, they debate whether to return the dog they found or sacrifice the monkey and the pheasant. Kenjaku then suggests killing the pheasant, making a pun about it feeling "unpheasant" to keep an anxious pet owner worried. He then asks Takaba if he's okay, and Takaba expresses his belief that it's time for the show of his dreams to come to an end.
Takaba acknowledges that he has not been the perfect comedian in the past, but seeing Kenjaku’s fangirls now brings him joy. He expresses his desire to continue and admits that he does not want it to end, as tears fill his eyes. Kenjaku consoles him, urging him not to cry and ruin the mood, before they bid the crowd goodnight and return to reality.
In Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 243, Takaba is seen lying on the ground wearing ceremonial clothing, expressing gratitude to Kenjaku. Kenjaku responds by genuinely praising Takaba's performance on stage. However, Kenjaku then realizes that Yuta Okkotsu is behind him, ready to attack with his sword. Despite attempting to use his Antigravity Curse Technique Reversal, Kenjaku is ultimately unable to evade Okkotsu's attack. As his decapitated head falls from his body, Kenjaku questions Yuta's presence and how he didn't notice his significant amount of Cursed Energy.
Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 243: In summation
In Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 243, it becomes clear that Takaba's Cursed Technique was intended to create a barrier to prevent interference with their performance. In the midst of this, Kenjaku's severed head questions Yuta about whether this was the original plan, to which Yuta explains that Takaba does not seek to harm others. The chapter concludes with Kenjaku expressing regret at not being able to see his plans through, but assuring that someone else will carry on his will.
In conclusion, Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 243 offers a thrilling and gratifying conclusion to the Takaba and Kenjaku fight. Although some of the references may be lost on non-Japanese readers, the comedic writing remains solid. Additionally, there are still humorous moments that transcend language and cultural differences.
The issue offers a satisfying resolution with Okkotsu's intervention. It explains why Yuji Itadori and Hiromi Higuruma faced Sukuna instead of Yuta, and sets up a return to Yuji and Higuruma versus Sukuna in the next installment. As a Gen Z fan, I am thrilled with the latest chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen. Gege Akutami continues to deliver an engaging and unpredictable story that keeps me on the edge of my seat. The humor in this chapter was particularly well-done, and I found myself laughing out loud at several points.
The fight between Takaba and Kenjaku was also incredibly well- choreographed and executed. I was especially impressed with the way Akutami used the Momotaro story to frame the battle. It was a clever and creative way to add depth and meaning to the fight.
Overall, I think Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 243 was a great read. It was full of action, humor, and suspense. I can't wait to see what happens next!
