John Travolta showed his support for Timothée Chalamet's recent success in his career. Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, March 20, Travolta, who is 70 years old, congratulated Chalamet, who is 28 years old, for achieving a significant milestone. Chalamet has become the first actor, besides Travolta himself, to have two movies that are top-grossing at the box office at the same time within eight months.
Congratulations Timothée! JT wrote a message to celebrate sharing the box office record with him.
Travolta held the record for 44 years with hits like Saturday Night Fever (1977) and Grease (1978). Chalamet's impressive ticket sales for Dune: Part Two and Wonka have now surpassed $200 million each since last July, as reported by IndieWire. Dune: Part Two alone has already made $400 million just over two weeks after its release.
Chalamet stars as Paul Atreides in the sci-fi film directed by Dennis Villeneuve and as Willy Wonka in the movie Wonka. He shared that playing the role of Willy, originally portrayed by Gene Wilder in the 1971 film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, was the most physically demanding project he has ever taken on.

"I can't say that singing and dancing comes naturally to me," he shared with Vanity Fair in December 2023. Despite having experience with musical theater and some dancing in high school, this was a whole new challenge. Dancing at this level requires staying in the center of the frame, months of rehearsals, and being on point for every take.
The professional dancers were dedicated, even "icing their ankles" between takes to show their seriousness and commitment to the dance scenes. It was definitely a big challenge for them.
In addition to dance sessions, Chalamet also engaged in vocal training with music supervisor James Taylor. He sang six original songs and also performed the beloved "Pure Imagination" during the filming process.
Chalamet had a challenging time filming Dune: Part Two, where he had to act as if he was riding a giant sand worm in the desert. In an interview with Screen Rant in February, he shared that it took several months just to capture that particular scene.
He referred to this part of filming as the Worm Unit, where he would spend 20 or 30 minutes at a time working on this sequence. The filming schedule was carefully coordinated with the main production, and he described the experience as truly impressive. The team dedicated months of work to create a three-minute scene that left a lasting impact.
Chalamet is currently working on the highly anticipated Bob Dylan biopic, A Complete Unknown, which is currently in production. He is taking his rehearsals seriously and has hired the same vocal team that worked with Austin Butler on the 2022 film, Elvis.
In a December 2023 interview with GQ, Chalamet shared, "I’ve basically been working with his entire Elvis team for my Dylan prep. There’s a wonderful dialect coach named Tim Monich, vocal coach named Eric Vetro, and movement coach named Polly Bennett. I was inspired by Austin Butler's commitment and realized I needed to step up my game."
