Why are Depictions of Lennon's Murder Still Controversial?

Following Lennon's murder in 1980, his family and friends have made efforts to prevent Chapman from attaining the notoriety he so desperately craved. This resulted in the creation of Chapter 27, a fictionalized account of the hours leading up to the murder in Chapman's life. The film created significant controversy, with Jared Leto portraying Chapman after gaining nearly 70 pounds for the role. Lindsay Lohan and Judah Friedlander also appeared in the film. Despite a delayed release in 2008, after being shelved for over a year, Chapter 27 received poor reviews. Only time will reveal if Apple's examination of Chapman in John Lennon: Murder Without a Trial will be more tasteful and receive less criticism from Lennon's loved ones. The release date for John Lennon: Murder Without a Trial has yet to be announced. Keep visiting our website for future updates.
