Jodie Foster recently shared her thoughts on Gen Z in an interview with The Guardian. The Oscar-winning actress pointed out an interesting observation she's made about some members of this generation, who she has worked with, being born after 1996 and through 2010.
Foster expressed her frustration, particularly in the workplace, saying, "They can be really annoying. For example, they'll say 'Nah, not feeling it today, I'll come in at 10:30 a.m.' Or in emails, I'll correct their grammar and spelling, and they'll respond with 'Why would I do that? Isn't that limiting?'"
As a former child actor, Foster offers life advice to younger artists, stating, "I often reach out to young actresses because I empathize with the challenges of growing up in this industry."
She strives to offer the kind of guidance she wished she had received when starting out in the entertainment industry. "They need to learn how to unwind, to not overthink, and to create something unique," Foster explained. She added, "I can assist them in discovering their own style, which is much more enjoyable than feeling the weight of being the main focus of the story."
Foster has expressed admiration for British actor Bella Ramsey, known for her role in "The Last of Us," and even asked Ramsey to introduce her at a recent Women in Hollywood event hosted by Elle magazine. Additionally, Foster has received acclaim for her supporting role in the Netflix biographical film, "Nyad."
She also stars in the fourth season of HBOs "True Detective," airing on Jan. 14.
