Tom Schwartz and Jo Wenberg's casual relationship came to an abrupt end, just like how it began.
In the latest episode of Vanderpump Rules, which aired on Tuesday, April 9, Schwartz, 41, and Jo were figuring out their casual connection as he started dating again. Jo shared in a confessional that she had hopes for a future with Schwartz.
Schwartz's love for his friends is very evident to me, and I hope to be accepted into their group if I want to be a permanent part of Schwartz's life," she observed. "We became emotionally close when he would cry about Katie [Maloney]."
Initially, Jo was a big topic of discussion on Vanderpump Rules following Schwartz and Katie's divorce. The couple announced their split in March 2022, long before they began filming season 10.
Schwartz and Jo's close bond was hinted at in unaired scenes before their relationship was confirmed at the 2023 reunion. Since then, Schwartz has downplayed how serious they actually were, but viewers saw more of their relationship on the show.
During Tuesday's episode, Schwartz and Jo found themselves in an awkward situation when she tagged along to a singles mixer with him, Tom Sandoval, and Kyle Chan. Schwartz's friends quickly pointed out that he couldn't just casually date when he was spending so much time with Jo.
Jo sees their situationship positively, like a glass half full, while Schwartz, being himself, naturally gives off charming signals all the time, almost like a superpower, according to Sandoval, 41.

Kyle, meanwhile, offered Schwartz some advice, adding, “You need to be not always with Jo. How are you going to find a girl?”
The outing took a turn for the worse when Schwartz began flirting with another woman. They even shared a kiss, causing Jo to feel upset and awkward, prompting her to leave the venue.
Jo expressed her disappointment on camera, saying, "I thought we were here to support Tom Sandoval. But when we arrived, he seemed more interested in other women. What about me? Am I not important?"
Jo expressed her feelings, stating that they were in a relationship and had even exchanged "I love you's." However, she felt upset that he was keeping their relationship a secret from his friends.
Schwartz began to question the sustainability of their situation, pondering if it was realistic to maintain such a close relationship with Jo while also dating, hanging out, and having sex with other people. He started to wonder if Jo was more emotionally invested in the relationship than he was.
Later on in the show, Schwartz wanted to know from Jo if she thought he was giving her "mixed signals."
He mentioned to her, "We always have a great time together and we have this amazing chemistry. But, I don't want to be in a relationship. I want to see other people. I am currently dating and meeting new people."
Jo expressed her feelings to Schwartz about how his actions had hurt her. She mentioned that they had been there for each other for the past year and a half, and questioned if he was embarrassed by her.
Schwartz denied feeling embarrassed by Jo, but he did mention hearing rumors about them secretly dating. He suggested that maybe they should not hang out as much.
Jo suggested not hanging out at all, which upset Schwartz.
Schwartz admitted, "To hear her say that is kind of gut-wrenching. Me and Jo have had this fantastic journey filled with compassion, support, and maybe even love. It would be a tragedy if we never hung out or talked again."
The conversation became emotional as Jo expressed the significance of Schwartz in her life.
She enthusiastically shared, "It would be effortless for us. We would grow old together, sharing laughter and all the ups and downs of life. That's why I need some time to process my feelings because I believe deep down that I have developed feelings for you."
Jo couldn't hold back her tears as she and Schwartz decided to go their separate ways. She expressed her feelings to Schwartz, saying, "I'll miss this. It doesn't come around often, but it's okay for us to move on and search for happiness elsewhere." Overwhelmed with emotions, Jo hurried out of his apartment.
In front of the cameras, Jo opened up about her love for Schwartz. She said, "It's really tough. All I want is for him to be happy. He means the world to me, no matter what he thinks of me. That's the absolute truth. I hold him in high regard."
Schwartz recently shared why timing was a challenge for him and Jo after their onscreen breakup.
During an interview on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen in February, Schwartz mentioned that there may have been some mixed signals between them. He reflected on their past dynamic, describing it as a "lightning in a bottle" situation. However, he admitted that he wasn't sure if he was emotionally ready for a conventional relationship.
Schwartz joked about his past struggles with relationships, saying he was in a strange place and should have focused on himself instead of seeking a girlfriend. He admitted to feeling like he needed to be committed at that time but now he has moved on and is in a better place with his girlfriend Sophia Skoro.
Despite his challenges, Schwartz has found happiness with Sophia Skoro. Jo, on the other hand, has been supportive and continues to publicly praise Schwartz for his growth and resilience.
I have been wanting to express this for a while, so please bear with me - ⭐️ Everything about this person brings me joy. Have you ever met someone who just understands you? Who makes you laugh and genuinely cares about people the same way I do? That person is Tom,” she shared on Instagram in March. “Tom Schwartz truly deserves the world — and so do I. I know him so well and I feel so happy and grateful. Maybe I'm not the right match for him, but I understand — he truly lives in the moment, just like me.
In conclusion: “Sending blessings to Tom Schwartz for being a guiding light in my life. And on the other hand, seriously, find someone who can constantly make you laugh — that's Tom Schwartz (T$) for you. Those of you who get to spend time with him are truly fortunate. (He probably won't like this post because it's a compliment to his character) but someone needs to acknowledge it — T$ has the most infectious laugh, smile, and people should really see how kind he is. My love for him will never fade. Jo, signing off ️.”
In response to questions about the long caption, Jo defended her post by asking why she couldn't share about one of her closest friends just because he is a guy. She pointed out that if it were one of her female friends, no one would bat an eye. Jo encouraged everyone to spread kindness and give a shoutout to the amazing people in their lives.
Vanderpump Rules can be watched on Bravo on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET and is also available for streaming on Peacock the following day.
