Jennifer Garner has learned valuable parenting advice from her mother, Patricia Garner. On an episode of “Kelly Corrigan Wonders” podcast, Jennifer, 52, shared that her mom always advises her to give a big hug to her children when they are at their worst. Patricia also emphasizes the importance of saying yes whenever possible, being generous with yeses, and saving nos. She believes that sometimes staying quiet can be more powerful than saying no.
Jennifer, who has three children with her ex-husband Ben Affleck, shared that her mom is a strong supporter of avoiding dwelling on difficult situations. She mentioned that there have been moments in her life where she would call her mom feeling overwhelmed, only for her mom to change the subject and suggest talking to her sisters instead.
Jennifer has shared the challenges of being a mother, especially while juggling work responsibilities. She expressed her feelings in an interview with Access Hollywood in October 2023. Jennifer mentioned feeling pressured by the idea that time with her children is limited, but her mother reassured her that she will always be their mom, no matter what.

Jennifer mentioned that there are moments when she feels fully present and other times when work takes precedence. She emphasized the importance of working parents showing themselves some compassion.
In addition to juggling her role as a working mother, Jennifer faces the additional challenge of co-parenting her three children with Affleck, who is 51 years old. The couple separated in 2015 after a decade of marriage. Affleck has since remarried Jennifer Lopez in 2022, while Jennifer has been in an on-and-off relationship with John Miller since 2015.
In February 2020, a source mentioned to We that the relationship between them is always a work in progress. Despite facing challenges, they are dedicated to providing the best care for their children. They have frequent meetings and check-ins to stay organized and prioritize their kids' well-being. Any disagreements are kept private, and they always maintain a positive attitude for the sake of the children.
The insider also shared that Jennifer has a detailed parenting plan that Affleck continues to honor and respect.
“She’s a great mom and knows what she’s doing,” the source shared with Us. “He gives her a lot of credit for getting them to where they are today as a family.”
