Secret Invasion misses out on a great opportunity with its Marvel Cinematic Universe Skrull cosplay. With Samuel L. Jackson leading the cast, including familiar MCU stars like Cobie Smulders and Ben Mendelsohn, as well as newcomers Emilia Clarke and Olivia Colman, the series follows Fury's return to Earth to thwart a Skrull invasion. Episode 1 of Secret Invasion already had shocking reveals, guaranteeing more twists and turns in the remaining six episodes. The Skrulls' shape-shifting abilities add an intriguing dynamic to the story, drawing inspiration from the comics and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. However, one aspect of the series suffers in its medium.
Incredible Skrull Avengers Cosplay Reveals A Missed Opportunity
A photo showcasing an exciting group cosplay on Instagram depicts Skrull disguises worn by Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Black Widow, and both versions of Spider-Man — Peter Parker and Miles Morales. This cosplay captures the essence of what Secret Invasion lacks, as it will not have the Avengers. @novembercosplay, the Captain Marvel cosplayer, and @doubletakecosplay, the Iron Man cosplayer, went above and beyond by attending the Secret Invasion premiere event, taking pictures with the star-studded cast, and watching the first two episodes of the show before its release. Why The Avengers Won't Be Skrulls In Secret Invasion
The Avengers will not be Skrulls in Secret Invasion because they are not appearing in the series. In the comics, the story includes the possibility of any Marvel hero being revealed as a Skrull at any moment. However, this cannot happen in the MCU version of Secret Invasion as it is being produced as a series instead of a movie, resulting in a narrower focus. As a result, the Avengers are excluded from the storyline. Marvel made the decision to shift the story's emphasis to a more personal conflict for Nick Fury, placing him in a spy thriller miniseries where he cannot trust anyone.
Although it would have been entertaining to have some Avengers as Skrulls in the story, Secret Invasion is not Avengers 5. Instead, it is a personal tale centered around Nick Fury, which suits the character well. After spending such a long time in the MCU, Fury deserves to take the spotlight. Without the Avengers, Secret Invasion will strongly focus on Jackson's character.
