Jason Momoa didn’t stress about his diet while preparing to play Aquaman.
Momoa, 44, told E! News on Friday, December 15, that he doesn't count calories, and instead just eats everything. He discussed his fitness routine leading up to filming Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, explaining, "You’re burning so many calories, I just eat and consume." He emphasized his constant movement and long work days, noting, "I just shovel it in, and then work hard. Work hard, eat hard, play hard, just do it."
The actor mentioned that he doesn't really follow a workout routine for vanity, but rather to avoid getting injured while filming. He emphasized the need to be prepared, especially when wearing a heavy suit. The physical demands of action scenes can put a lot of strain on the body, particularly the knees, so staying fit is crucial for preventing injuries. When the movie is released on December 22, fans can expect to see the superhero navigating the challenges of fatherhood. In the sequel, Aquaman is married to Mera, played by Amber Heard, and has a son, Arthur Curry Jr., also known as Aquababy.
While being interviewed by E! News, Momoa enthusiastically expressed his enjoyment of portraying a father, stating, "I’m like, ‘People need to see this side of him,’ so that was my request, and I think people are going to really love it."

Momoa takes pride in his personal life as a father of two. He has a daughter named Lola Iolani, 16, and a son named Nakoa-Wolf, 14, whom he shares with his ex-wife Lisa Bonet. Bonet, 56, is also the mother of Zoë Kravitz, 35, whom she shares with her ex-husband Lenny Kravitz. In August 2021, Momoa spoke to Vogue about his experience as a father.
“There’s no way to adequately describe the experience of being a father, of being willing to do anything for someone other than yourself,” he expressed. “Being a parent is a beautiful thing. I have a strong bond with both my kids, but it’s a different kind of closeness with daughters, it’s much more nurturing.”
Over the years, Momoa has accompanied his children to various red carpet events, such as the James Bond: No Time to Die premiere in 2021, a Slumberland screening in 2022, and others.
