Jason Alexander, known for his role as George Costanza on Seinfeld, admitted that he is completely unaware of any plans for a rumored reboot of the popular sitcom. The 64-year-old actor revealed that he only became aware of the rumor when Jerry Seinfeld mentioned it at the end of a stand-up performance, stating that he and Larry David were considering something. However, Alexander emphasized that he has not been contacted about any such project.
He jokingly remarked, "It seems they don't need George, and they may not need Elaine either. Julia and I were both clueless about this, and I spoke with Michael just the other day, who also had no knowledge of it."
Alexander, known for his role as George on the NBC sitcom for 9 seasons between 1989 and 1998, shared that he recently caught up with his former co-stars Louis-Dreyfus (who portrayed Elaine Benes) and Richards (who played Kramer), but he has yet to speak with Seinfeld (who played the main character) since he hinted at a potential reboot last month.
Seinfeld hinted at a secret related to the show's final episode during his stand-up show in Boston on October 7. He mentioned that he couldn't reveal the secret but confirmed that he and creator David were not finished with Seinfeld. He assured the audience that something would happen in connection to the ending, but it had yet to occur. Furthermore, he mentioned that he and David had been considering the same ideas as the fans, implying that they would be addressed in the future.
Despite being unsure of a future Seinfeld project, Alexander previously revealed what he thinks George would be doing now.
The cast of 'Seinfeld' includes Michael Richards, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jerry Seinfeld, and Jason Alexander. In an exclusive interview with We in April 2021, Alexander joked about the series finale where all four friends ended up in jail for failing to help a carjacked man. When asked about the character George, Alexander imagines him being quarantined with his parents, refusing to leave his room. He subsists on food ordered through a mobile app and isolates himself from the outside world.
He expressed, "His obsession with Lupus was intense, so one can only imagine how he would handle COVID. It's clear that he would not be handling this pandemic well at all!"
Although a Seinfeld reunion is uncertain, Alexander shared on Monday that he maintains strong bonds with his fellow cast members.
"I just watched Julia's latest film, You Hurt My Feelings. I had the chance to see it while on a plane, and she truly impressed me," he shared with Extra. "I also heard that Michael will be releasing a book in approximately eight months. I immediately sent him a text expressing my congratulations and my anticipation for reading it."
