Is Rick Moranis Back for Honey We Did It Again?

Rick Moranis may have made a comeback with Honey We Did It Again, a thrilling sequel series to Honey I Shrunk the Kids Is this news true or just a rumor? Find out if the beloved actor has indeed returned in this exciting new adventure!

Has Rick Moranis really returned for a brand-new sequel series to Honey I Shrunk the Kids on Disney Plus? The 1989 film, directed by Joe Johnston, featured Moranis as Wayne Szalinski, an inventor determined to make his ray machine work. This machine could shrink and enlarge objects and people, as the title suggests.

Disney’s highest-grossing movie for five years was the launchpad for two sequels: 1992’s Honey I Blew Up the Kid and 1997’s Honey We Shrunk Ourselves. There have been rumors of a remake for five years, but now a Disney Plus series is rumored to be in the works with Moranis and Josh Gad. Is it real?

Is Rick Moranis’ Honey We Did It Again series real?

No, Rick Moranis hasn’t returned for Honey We Did It Again – because it’s completely made up.

Surprise surprise, YODA BBY ABY is back at it again. The Facebook page continues to post fake movie posters on a daily basis, whether it's for a non-existent Rob Zombie's Steam Boat horror film or a sequel to The NeverEnding Story - both of which are not real.

Don't miss the return of Moranis in Honey, We Did It Again, coming to Disney+ in June 2024! Follow the comedic adventures of Wayne Szalinski and his son Adam in this 6-episode series, featuring a mix of giant mishaps and tiny chaos that will keep you laughing. Whether big or small, the Szalinski family antics are larger than life!

YODA BBY ABY’s posters are often nonsensical, but this one is especially tricky. The Hollywood Reporter revealed in 2018 that a remake of the original film was in development, only to later report that the project would be a "legacy sequel" titled Shrunk, with Josh Gad playing Nick Szalinski.

In 2020, Deadline reported that Moranis had finalized a deal to reprise his role in the movie, with Johnston also returning to direct. According to the outlet, "The movie centers on Gad’s character, who is the son of Moranis’ Wayne Szalinski, and is aspiring to be a great scientist like his father but accidentally shrinks the kids."

Here’s the thing: Shrunk doesn’t have a release date, and there’s almost no chance that it’s coming out in June 2024.

As an enthusiastic fan of the Honey I Shrunk the Kids franchise, I was thrilled to hear the news that Rick Moranis might be returning for a new sequel series on Disney Plus. The original film holds a special place in my heart, and the prospect of seeing Moranis reprise his iconic role as Wayne Szalinski was incredibly exciting. However, my excitement was short-lived when I discovered that the news was just a rumor, and there is no actual sequel in the works.

The disappointment I felt was palpable. I had already envisioned the hilarious antics and heartwarming moments that could have unfolded in a new adventure with the Szalinski family. The thought of seeing Moranis back on screen, bringing his unique brand of humor and charm to the role, was truly tantalizing. It's disheartening to realize that this potential reunion will not come to fruition, at least not in the immediate future.
