Invincible Season 2, the highly-anticipated animated superhero series on Amazon Prime Video, is set to offer a thrilling lineup of upcoming episodes. Finally, viewers can rejoice as Invincible returns for its explosive Season 2.
Following the events of the first season's finale, where Mark Grayson was left battered and betrayed by his own father, Omni-Man, the series continues to delve into his journey of becoming a superhero. Simultaneously, Mark uncovers disturbing truths that his father has concealed from him. With the second season, creator Robert Kirkman guarantees a thrilling ride, filled with multiple "mind-blowing" episodes.
Kirkman says Invincible fans are not ready for Episodes 4 and 8
Invincible creator, writer, and EP Robert Kirkman recently addressed Invincible fans at an early screening of Season 2 Episode 1 followed by a Q&A held by Collider.
When asked what fans can expect for the remaining seven episodes of Season 2, Kirkman explained that by the fourth episode, viewers will likely feel exhausted. Episode 4 will serve as the mid-season finale, with a return for four more episodes in 2024.
"I'm personally happy about the break, although I know most people won't be pleased. However, it's necessary to take the time off and rest," Kirkman continued. "Each episode builds upon the last, so by the time you reach the fourth episode, you'll be thinking, 'How is all of this happening? It's absolutely crazy.' And that's pretty cool."
"As we delve further into the storyline, Season 2, Episode 4 blows you away, but Season 2, Episode 8 surpasses it in its sheer magnitude. And just wait until you witness the intensity of Season 3, Episode 8! Whoo."
Amazon has given the green light for Season 3 of Invincible, but Kirkman envisions the show running for seven or eight seasons in order to fully capture the content of the comic, which spans 144 issues across 25 volumes.
When questioned about the decision to have eight episodes per season despite the extensive storyline, Kirkman clarified, "Six episodes would be insufficient, while ten would be excessive. The hour-long format poses its own challenges, regardless of the number of episodes. If we were a half-hour show, we might have been able to produce more episodes, but I believe the hour-long format suits this show."
Realistically, I believe we could produce 20 episodes per season. However, it would take seven years for each season to be released. Yet, I find eight episodes to be more manageable and structurally fitting as an even number.

Editor's P/S
As an ardent fan of the Invincible comic book series and the first season of the animated adaptation, I am incredibly excited about the upcoming Season 2. The show has already proven itself capable of delivering intense, action-packed storytelling, and I can't wait to see what's in store for Mark Grayson and the rest of the characters.
Robert Kirkman's comments about Episodes 4 and 8 have me particularly intrigued. If they're going to be even more mind-blowing than the already epic Season 1 finale, then we're in for a real treat. I'm also glad to hear that Kirkman is planning for a long-running series, as there's so much rich material to adapt from the comics.
Overall, I'm incredibly optimistic about the future of Invincible. The show has the potential to be one of the greatest superhero adaptations ever, and I can't wait to see what the next few seasons bring.
