Japanese software company CTW announced on September 19, 2023, that it is currently developing a browser-based video game for the popular Black Lagoon manga series. The game, titled Heaven's Shot, is set to be released worldwide on CTW's online platform G123. Although the official release date is still unknown, interested users can pre-register for the game. While specific details about the game are limited, CTW has confirmed that it will be a freemium game, marking the first video game adaptation of Hiroe's manga series.
The Black Lagoon manga was initially released in 2002 under the Shogakukan publishing brand. However, it has been on hiatus and made multiple comebacks since 2010. Hiroe's original story has led to the creation of two spin-off manga series and has also been adapted into two different television anime series produced by Madhouse Studios, along with an OVA (original video animation).

Information on the first video game based on the Black Lagoon manga series is currently limited. Although no release date has been announced, the pre-registration option implies that it will be available in the coming months. The game is described as "freemium" by CTW, suggesting a gameplay style similar to "gacha" mobile games but exclusively for browsers.
Hiroe originally published the manga in Shogakukan's Monthly Sunday GX magazine in 2002. The 12th compilation volume was released in Japan in August 2021 and in North America in August 2022. Similar to Yoshihiro Togashi's Hunter x Hunter, the series has experienced multiple hiatuses since its initial long-term pause in 2010.
The franchise's two spinoff manga series, Sawyer the Cleaner - Dismemberment! Gore Gore Girl and Eda -initial stage-, were released in September 2019 and April 2022 respectively. Tatsuhiro Ida and Hajime Yamamura are the talented artists behind these series, with their work being serialized in Shogakukan's Monthly Sunday GX magazine.
The anime adaptation of the series was produced by Madhouse Studios in 2006, resulting in two seasons and an OVA. The OVA, titled Roberta's Blood Trail, was released in 2010. In North America, Geneon initially released the series on DVD from 2007 to 2008, and Funimation later re-released it on DVD and Blu-ray in 2012 and 2015.
Hiroe has also played a significant role in the creation of the Re:CREATORS television anime series, contributing original character designs, writing, and overseeing the scripts. The series premiered in April 2017 and consisted of 22 episodes.
