Insomniac Marvel's Wolverine was announced two years ago, leaving fans curious about the shared universe between Spider-Men and Logan. Providing clarity, Spider-Man 2's senior creative director, Bryan Intihar, confirmed their coexistence during a Kinda Funny Games interview. Intihar stated, "They belong to the 1048 universe. I believe I have that correct."
Marvel has a long history of exploring the multiverse, with each universe having its own unique characteristics. For instance, the main comic book series is set in universe 616, while the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is set in universe 199999.
During the interview, Intihar mentioned that the studio deliberately decided against including Easter Eggs related to Wolverine in order to keep the team's focus solely on Spider-Man.
"I'm currently focused on learning how to bring Spider-Man to life or making progress on that project. However, I also have another Marvel undertaking in mind," stated Intihar. "For us, it's about giving the team the freedom to fully unleash their creativity and create the game they truly desire."
This statement echoes Intihar's previous remarks. In an interview with IGN, he emphasized the importance of allowing the studio the necessary resources and support to create an exceptional Wolverine game. Intihar expressed his enthusiasm for this endeavor but also acknowledged that, as Marvel fans, it is natural to discuss other projects as well.
Marvel's Wolverine is slated to launch exclusively on the PlayStation 5, but details about the game are still limited. For other updates from Insomniac, be sure to read our article about a bug in Spider-Man 2 that inaccurately displayed Puerto Rican and Cuban flags.
