Sarah Ferguson reminisced about a heartwarming encounter with Queen Elizabeth II's beloved corgis while out for a walk as she recuperated from her battle with breast cancer.
During an episode of her podcast, "Tea Talks With the Duchess and Sarah," the 63-year-old Duchess of York revealed, "Yesterday, I had the pleasure of taking all seven of the queen's dogs to their usual walking spot. As we strolled together, I found myself conversing with them, asking, 'Which way shall we go?' And they instinctively guided me along the way."
Following her single mastectomy surgery, Ferguson's mobility was not as strong as it used to be. The beloved pets of the late queen, who were accustomed to being taken on walks regularly by others, eagerly desired to go on a stroll. Consequently, once her doctor granted her permission for light activity, she decided to take the dogs on a sentimental walk. Ferguson fondly recounted the experience, particularly mentioning a special woodland path that had been created exclusively for the queen. She expressed that it was a truly remarkable moment to reminisce about the queen, especially since during the same period the previous year, the queen would have been heading to Balmoral Castle and they would have walked together along the exact same path. Ferguson also shared how the queen would have bid her goodbye, saying, "See you up in Scotland."
Ferguson discovered the outdoor escapade to be deeply stirring. After the stroll, she and her former spouse Prince Andrew, with whom she shares a residence at the Royal Lodge in Windsor, took a moment in the garden to contemplate the passing of his mother. Elizabeth, who was also the mother of King Charles III, Princess Anne, and Prince Edward, passed away in September 2022 at the age of 96.
"We found solace beneath the enchanting trees as I inquired about his well-being in the absence of his parents," she shared. "He expressed a sense of solitude and revealed that thoughts of [them] frequently occupy his mind. Each individual copes with sorrow uniquely."
Nine months following the demise of her mother-in-law, Ferguson encountered a daunting health struggle of her own. It was during a routine mammogram screening that she received the unsettling news of her breast cancer diagnosis.
The surgery was advised and successfully performed, according to a spokesperson for the duchess. She is receiving excellent medical care and her doctors have given her a positive prognosis. Currently, she is recuperating with her family and would like to extend her immense gratitude to the medical staff who have provided their support during this time.
Following the revelation of her diagnosis, Sarah urged all individuals to undergo a screening during one of the episodes of her podcast in June.
"It is of utmost importance for me to address this," she clarified. "I am sharing this information with all the listeners so that each and every one of them proactively gets themselves tested. Get screened, and please take the necessary steps."
