A comical video from a casual match on Ilios in Overwatch 2 went viral on social media this month. The clip showcases a series of amusing failures, starting with a misplay by Lifeweaver. Interestingly, this video came out shortly after Blizzard made significant changes to Lifeweaver in an effort to improve the hero's effectiveness in all game modes.
Lifeweaver is the newest addition to the diverse roster of 37 characters in Overwatch 2. This support hero is capable of creating platforms and pulling allies, and was initially introduced at the start of Season 4 on April 11. However, despite receiving two major buffs from Blizzard, Lifeweaver has not been played extensively. Even after being given these enhancements, the hero has become known among fans as the character who often results in hilarious mishaps during Overwatch 2 gameplay.
The latest addition to the game's reputation is an Overwatch 2 gameplay clip shared by a Reddit user named Healsg00dMan. In the clip, Healsg00dMan finds themselves on the receiving end of a less-than-ideal play by a Lifeweaver during a control match on Ilios. The footage begins with Healsg00dMan's character, Cassidy, being pulled by the Lifeweaver to line up a shot at a nearby Roadhog. Unfortunately, the move leads to Cassidy's death. However, the opposing Roadhog, in a surprising move, jumps out of bounds in an attempt to use his Chain Hook on Cassidy, ultimately leading to his own demise.
Adding to the comedic value, as Cassidy plummets to their death, a nearby Ana uses Overwatch 2 Nano Boost on them for an utterly pointless Ultimate buff. The combination of these consecutive blunders resulted in the clip reaching the front page of the Overwatch subreddit on June 24. Fans quickly labeled these mishaps as the epitome of "peak" Overwatch 2 gameplay.
Lifeweaver, a newcomer to Blizzard's popular shooter game, still has the potential to be part of the competitive meta. However, many players currently consider him to be more of a novelty and without further improvements, it is unlikely that he will be able to break into the high-level gameplay. Recognizing this, Blizzard has indicated that Lifeweaver might undergo a substantial rework in Season 5 of Overwatch 2. Overwatch 2 is playable on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
