Nothing brings people together like a home-cooked meal — and Jessie James Decker is sharing her favorite family-friendly dishes.

In the latest issue of We magazine, the 35-year-old country singer exclusively shares her highly sought-after recipes. While her upcoming cookbook, Just Eat, will be available on October 10th, Decker reveals that her seafood gumbo from her 2020 cookbook Just Feed Me is a favorite among her children. (Decker and her husband Eric Decker are parents to daughter Vivianne, 9, and sons Eric Jr., 7, and Forrest, 5.)

However, it is her homemade chicken soup that Eric Jr. requests every day, according to Jessie. As for Forrest, he can't get enough of his mother's spaghetti Bolognese, which she prepares for him every week. Nevertheless, Jessie considers baking chocolate chip cookies with her youngest child as her most cherished activity.

"We make them together, maybe once a week or every other week, but without fail, we always bake chocolate chip cookies," she tells Us. "Forrest gets extremely excited. I ask him to fetch my cookbook, which is actually my own creation. I have him turn to the page with the chocolate chip cookie recipe. Then, he confidently goes to the pantry, gathering all the necessary ingredients. It's our special routine, something we truly enjoy doing together."

According to Jessie, the resulting sweet treat is a recipe that she describes as being "absolutely divine." She adds, "They are perfectly soft, gooey, and incredibly delicious!"

Not only is Jessie skilled at preparing delicious meals, but she also has expertise in cocktail mixology. Recently, she collaborated with Ryan Reynolds to craft a unique cocktail inspired by Father's Day. In a humorous nod to Eric's decision against getting a vasectomy, Jessie cleverly named the drink after this outpatient procedure.

In a promotional video for Reynolds' Aviation Gin, Jessie amusingly suggested, "To begin, let's fill a tall glass with ice. It may be more ice than necessary, just like it takes more ice to soothe your delicate areas during what I'm assured is a swift and relatively painless procedure." She humorously added, "Of course, it's not quite the same experience as giving birth."

Jessie mixed cranberry juice, Aviation Gin, a squeeze of lemon, and a dash of Blake Lively’s Betty Buzz sparkling soda. Impressed by its simplicity and deliciousness, she offered the drink to Eric to try. However, Reynolds, at 46, decided to clarify to the couple that the cocktail does not have the same effect as a real vasectomy. Jessie, however, whispered to her husband, "Don't listen to him, they're effective."

MAKES 10 TO 12 SERVINGS

PREP TIME: 10 minutes

COOK TIME: 30 minutes

Ingredients

2 sticks (8 ounces) unsalted butter, softened

3/4 cup granulated sugar

3/4 cup packed brown sugar

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

2 cups plus

2 tablespoons unbleached all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

11/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

1/4 cup Nutella or melted chocolate, for filling Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)

Instructions

To start, preheat the oven to 350°F. In a spacious bowl, use either a hand mixer or a stand mixer to beat the butter and sugars together until they become light and fluffy, which should take about 3 minutes. Proceed to add the eggs and vanilla to the mixture and continue beating until everything is fully combined.

In a different bowl, blend the flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt. Combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients and mix until well incorporated. Gently incorporate three-quarters of the chocolate chips into the mixture.

Place half of the cookie dough into a 10-inch cast-iron skillet. Spread a layer of Nutella on top, followed by the remaining cookie dough. Sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips over the dough.

Bake the cookie until it is fully set and the edges turn a golden brown, which typically takes around 20 to 30 minutes. If you prefer a slightly gooey texture, you may choose to slightly underbake it. For an added touch, sprinkle some powdered sugar on top to give it an extra twist.
