Where to Use Hyrule Bass

Materials in Tears of the Kingdom are collectible items that serve multiple purposes such as fusion, cooking, and armor upgrades. Therefore, it is crucial for players to develop a habit of constantly gathering materials they come across. Among these materials, inanimate ones are generally easier to obtain compared to living ones. The Hyrule Bass is a prime example of a living material.

The Hyrule Bass can typically be found in the rivers and ponds scattered throughout Hyrule Field. However, due to the vastness of the game's world in Tears of the Kingdom, locating them precisely can pose a challenge. To effectively fish for the Hyrule Bass, players are strongly advised to equip themselves with a bow and arrows that they are willing to risk breaking.

Hyrule Bass Locations

There are two ways of farming Hyrule Bass:

Look around Hyrule (recommended: Bottomless Pond)

When fishing, it is advisable to acquire armor that boosts Link's swimming speed. Additionally, players should consider obtaining additional stamina wheels to prevent drowning while collecting bass in the water. Alternatively, players can utilize the Ultrahand Ability by shooting an arrow at the fish.

One option for acquiring Hyrule Bass without swimming or using arrows is to toss a Shock Fruit (or Yellow Chuchu Jelly) into the water. It is important to exercise caution, as tossing a Shock Fruit into the water will create an electrical dome. If Link is too close, he will receive an electric shock and drop his weapons or shield. Despite the potential hazards associated with this method, it is widely regarded as the most recommended approach. A single Shock Fruit can lure multiple Hyrule Bass to the surface. Once they appear, Link can dive in and collect them or employ the use of the Ultrahand.

Bottomless Pond

The Hyrule Bass can be found swimming in the Bottomless Pond located at coordinates 0500, -0556, 0064. To reach this area, you can start by heading towards the Tajikats Shrine (0344, -1006, 0016) which is in close proximity to the Riverside Stable. The Bottomless Pond is situated just north of these notable landmarks. Alternatively, if you are at Lookout Landing, head southeast to reach your destination.

Explore the larger section of Bottomless Pond to find Hyrule Bass and Staminoka Bass. These can be conveniently accessed from the giant lily pads. Use either a bow or Shock Fruit to catch them.

Please refrain from using Bomb Flowers, as this will not only kill the fish but also cook them, transforming the Hyrule Bass into Roasted Bass. Once a fish is roasted, it is considered a "meal" and cannot be further cooked.

Lookout Landing

Players can purchase three Hyrule Bass at the Lookout Landing store if they have extra rupees. As they advance in the "Regional Phenomena" main quest, additional items will become available. If, by any chance, the merchant doesn't have Hyrule Bass in stock, players should complete one of the main quests, like "Tulin of Rito Village," "Yunobo of Goron City," "Sidon of Zora's Domain," or "Riju of Gerudo Town," before returning to Lookout Landing.

Each Hyrule Bass costs 24 rupees, totaling 72 rupees for all three. Although not overly expensive, players may want to consider obtaining their own Hyrule Bass and saving their rupees for more valuable items, such as armor. The shops restock every 24 hours in-game. To pass time, players can stay at an inn or wait at a campfire.

Where to Use Hyrule Bass

Surprisingly, Hyrule Bass can be consumed raw, although it only replenishes one heart of Link's health. It is advisable to cook the fish beforehand to maximize its benefits. Hyrule Bass is versatile and can be utilized in various recipes that require any type of fish. A notable example is the Meat and Seafood Fry dish, along with its different versions. For this particular meal:

- Use one Hyrule Bass (x1)

x1 Raw Meat

To create a Roasted Bass, simply drop a Hyrule Bass directly into a fire, without using a cooking pot. After a brief period, retrieve the fish from the fire, resulting in a delicious Roasted Bass. Consuming this dish restores one and a half hearts. However, it should be noted that the improvement in taste and nutritional value compared to a raw Hyrule Bass is minimal.

The Hyrule Bass is crucial for upgrading armor, a task exclusively carried out by the Great Fairies. To initiate this process, players must commence the side adventure "Potential Princess Sightings!" by reading the Lucky Clover Gazette, followed by completing the "Serenade to a Great Fairy" quest at the Woodland Stable. This accomplishment will unveil the whereabouts of the remaining Great Fairies. To fully maximize the potential of any given armor piece, players must unlock all the Great Fairy Fountains.

The armor pieces requiring Hyrule Bass are as follows:

Level

Required Materials (per Armor Piece)

Zora Set

★★

When you reach level 2 in the Zora Set (or any other armor set), you will unlock a special Set Bonus. In the case of the Zora Set, this Bonus allows you to use less stamina when dashing through water. This upgrade could be worth your time and effort, even if it means farming 15 Hyrule Bass.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available for Nintendo Switch.
