Gaming accessory maker Hyperkin has created a modern version of the original Xbox's Controller S, offering significant enhancements. Following the successful remaking of the Duke in 2018, Hyperkin now turns its attention to the Controller S, which became the standard controller for the original Xbox.
Hyperkin's upgraded Controller S, the "DuchesS," follows the naming tradition of the Duke and offers features expected by modern Xbox console players. Compatible with Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows 10 and 11 PCs, the DuchesS includes a built-in share button, a USB-C port, and a 3.5mm headset jack. Notably, it also incorporates Hall effect joysticks and triggers, using magnets and electrical conductors to measure their position without physical contact with other moving parts. This design ensures longer durability and eliminates common issues like joystick drift, setting the DuchesS apart from other controllers in the market. With relatively few Hall effect controllers available, especially for Xbox, the DuchesS emerges as a standout offering for gamers.
How much will the price of the DuchesS increase with the addition of the fancy Hall effect joysticks and triggers? Hyperkin has not yet disclosed the release date or pricing for the DuchesS controller. However, as a point of reference, Hyperkin's Duke controller is currently priced at $70. If the DuchesS does not suit your preferences and you prefer the original Xbox 360 controller, Hyperkin has released an upgraded version called the Xenon in 2023.

As a Gen Z fan, I am thrilled about the re-release of the Original Xbox Controller S by Hyperkin. The new and improved "DuchesS" controller brings exciting upgrades that enhance the gaming experience. The inclusion of a built-in share button, USB-C port, and 3.5mm headset jack aligns with modern gaming standards and provides convenience for players.
The incorporation of Hall effect joysticks and triggers is a game-changer. This technology ensures longer durability and eliminates common issues like joystick drift, which has been a persistent frustration for many gamers. The fact that there are relatively few Hall effect controllers available, especially for Xbox, makes the DuchesS a standout offering. I am eager to get my hands on this controller and experience the improved precision and control it promises.
