Kacey Musgraves went to the doctor’s office after recording her hit duet “I Remember Everything” with Zach Bryan. In a sneak peek from her upcoming Sunday Today With Willie Geist appearance on March 10, Musgraves, 35, shared that she was asked to record the song with Bryan, 27, at a time when she was not feeling well.
When asked to do the song, she was initially enthusiastic but was feeling unwell at the time. Her throat was sore from a recent trip. Despite this, the deadline for the song was approaching fast. She only had a few days to work on it, but she was determined to give it her best shot.
Once Musgraves entered the studio, she realized that her voice wasn't working as she had hoped. She worried, "I hope this doesn't turn out bad."
Even though she felt hindered by her vocal struggles, the singer of "High Horse" managed to push through the performance. In the end, she reflected, "I was actually quite pleased with how it turned out."
However, it wasn’t such good news once Musgraves met with her doctor after recording the song.
Musgraves explained, “I left the studio, and I went to the doctor immediately and I had strep.”
“I texted the engineer,” she continued. “I was like, ‘I’m so sorry, I had strep, and I was just all up in your space.'”

Despite facing illness, Bryan's hard work paid off when "I Remember Everything" was released as the lead single from his self-titled album in 2023. This song earned Bryan and his partner a Grammy for Best Country Duo/Group Performance.
The song "I Remember Everything" debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking a milestone for both Musgraves and Bryan as their first chart-topper. Even twenty-seven weeks after its release, the song is still holding strong inside the top 10.
Musgraves joined Bryan on stage for the first live performance of the song during the opening night of his Quittin' Time tour at Chicago's United Center on Tuesday, March 5th.
Bryan's tour will be traveling all over North America until the end of the year. He will have different opening acts like Jason Isbell, Sierra Ferell, and Sheryl Crow joining him on stage.
On the other hand, Musgraves is set to release her sixth studio album, Deeper Well, on Friday, March 15. Following the album release, she will begin her own tour starting on April 28 in Dublin, Ireland.
Editor's P/S:
Kacey Musgraves' determination and professionalism are inspiring. Despite feeling unwell, she pushed through the recording session for "I Remember Everything," a song that became a Grammy-winning hit. Her dedication to her craft is evident, and her willingness to perform even when not at her best is commendable.
The story also highlights the importance of taking care of one's health. While it's understandable that Musgraves wanted to meet the deadline for the song, it's crucial to prioritize well-being. Her subsequent diagnosis of strep throat shows that ignoring physical symptoms can have consequences. It's a reminder that we should listen to our bodies and seek medical attention when needed, even if it means potentially delaying other commitments.
